Accommodation and orientation in The Lime

South Winds Apartments is a small, family-run property in The Lime, offering spacious, simply furnished apartments and cottages. It is a five-minute drive from Maurice Bishop International Airport. This travel time is provided as a general guide, not as a current route or traffic estimate.

Grand Anse Beach is approximately 500 yards from South Winds Apartments. Grenada’s capital, St. George’s, is around three miles from the property. This gives you three distinct points of reference: the beach, the capital and the airport. Check the current route and traffic conditions for specific journeys.

St George: History and landmarks

In the wider destination of St George, the Grenada National Museum is dedicated to preserving, interpreting and promoting the history and culture of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The museum is housed in one of Grenada’s oldest buildings in downtown St. George’s. The city’s historic architecture mostly dates from the 19th century; buildings along the Carenage are examples.

Fort Matthew was built between 1784 and 1790. Its 18th-century bathrooms, army kitchens and cell blocks have largely been preserved. Visitors can walk through the surviving tunnel system beneath the fort; confirm current access locally. Fort Frederick is one of the best-preserved bastions in the Caribbean and overlooks St. George’s harbor. From there, enjoy panoramic views of the nearby Carenage, the Caribbean Sea and the wooded ridges to the north.

Coast and nature in St George

Grand Anse Beach stretches for two miles and is known for its white sand and calm turquoise waters. The beach offers watersports and an arts, crafts and spice market. Annandale Waterfalls is a 30-foot cascade surrounded by a garden of colorful flowers and tropical vegetation. An interpretation center focuses on the surrounding ecosystem. The pool below the falls is suitable for a gentle, relaxing swim alone or with family. Check current water conditions before swimming.

Other nature attractions offer different highlights: Richmond Hill has views from the edge of the volcano, the Mt Hartman Protected Area safeguards the Grenada dove, and Dragon Bay has coral reefs. Smithy’s Garden is open to the public by prior appointment and features rainforest plants.

Underwater life, spices and gardens

The Underwater Sculpture Park is an underwater gallery and snorkeling area in the Molinere Beauséjour Marine Protected Area. It also functions as an artificial reef that attracts marine life. The Coral Carnival installation features 25 large-scale works depicting masked figures from Spicemas, the annual carnival held in August. The park brings together underwater art, marine life and a cultural theme.

The tour of De La Grenade Nutmeg Garden includes an aromatic walk and tastings of drink concentrates, syrups, jams and La Grenade liqueur. Visitors can also learn about the historical, traditional and medicinal uses of Grenada’s spices. As tour and tasting details may change, check before your visit. The garden at The Tower Estate in St. Paul’s, St. George’s, features extensive collections of heliconias, bromeliads and ginger lilies. The estate also offers afternoon teas, estate lunches and culinary safaris; check current offerings and booking details in advance.
