One hiking trail leads farther afield to Ali Pasha’s Castle above Anthousa. Along the way, there are views of the Ionian Sea and the mainland coast. The castle is located above Anthousa, so the route combines a named destination with a viewpoint. If views are important to you when choosing a hike, this combination is the specific difference from the route at Valtos Beach.

The route from Valtos Beach to the Anthousa Waterfall and the watermills is about 2 km long. Unlike the route to the castle, which is described in terms of its views and destination, this route has an approximate length and leads to two destinations of landscape and cultural interest. When deciding, you can therefore consider whether you would rather visit the castle and enjoy coastal views, or head to the waterfall and mills.

Waterfall and Watermills near Anthousa

The Anthousa Waterfall is surrounded by dense trees and is a short walk from the center of Anthousa village. Anthousa is 3 km from Párga. These locations make the village a useful reference point for the outing: the walking distance refers to the center of Anthousa, while the 3 km connects Párga and the village.

Old watermills are located about 300 m from the waterfall. One of them has been converted into a museum that presents the local agricultural heritage and traditional milling methods. The waterfall and mills can therefore be considered different parts of the same nearby excursion destination: the waterfall represents the wooded landscape, while the museum represents agricultural and milling traditions. This gives the hike both a scenic and a cultural dimension.
