Guiting Power lies in the upper part of the Windrush Valley; walking routes lead from here into Guiting Wood. Getting your bearings locally can be combined with choosing a specific route: the Wardens Way and the Guiting Power and Castlett route differ in their course and the features described.

Walk along a choice of routes

The Wardens Way passes through Guiting Power and covers 14 miles (23 km) from Bourton-on-the-Water to Winchcombe. It can be combined with the Windrush Way to make a circular route; it also connects with the Oxfordshire Way and the Cotswold Way. The Guiting Power and Castlett route takes a different approach: it follows drove roads and quiet paths through woodland and along the Guiting Stream. It starts at the village green. Parking is available nearby; follow the signs on Church Road. The Wardens Way has a specified distance and endpoints, while the course and starting point provide the directions for Guiting Power and Castlett.

Church, monument and music in July

The Anglican parish church of St Michael is listed Grade II*. Its north and south doorways date from the 12th century. Pedestrians can reach the church via the public footpath along Church Avenue, east of Naunton Road. A round barrow 300 m west of Church Farm is designated as a Scheduled Monument.

The Guiting Music Festival has been held in Guiting Power every July since 1970. It lasts ten days and begins each year in the last week of July. Concerts take place in a large marquee on the playing field behind Guiting Power Village Hall. For specific travel planning, check the dates and event layout for the year in question.

Wildlife and nature

At Cotswold Farm Park, visitors can get up close to more than 50 rare and native breeds from seven species of British farm animals. During the Highland Cow sessions, you can feed and get close to the animals; check whether advance booking is required and confirm availability before your visit. The animals on offer may change.

The Wildlife and Conservation woodland area offers a peaceful, scenic walk. There are also opportunities for birdwatching, exploring bees in the beehive and visiting an insect hotel. The focus therefore ranges from close encounters with animals to a nature walk; individual activities may also change.

Getting your bearings and finding accommodation

Guiting Power is accessible via the B4068 between Andoversford and Naunton. The Old Post Office shop and cafe is in the village centre; check its current operating status before travelling.
