The wide sandy beach, surf lessons and varied routes give Sennen several possible focal points. Sennen Cove Beach is all about the beach; on the “Sennen Cove & Land’s End” walk, you can choose Sennen Cove or Land’s End as your endpoint. Other routes run from Pendeen to Sennen Cove or through Sennen and Mousehole. To plan your visit, you can first decide whether to focus on the beach, surf lessons or a particular walk.

Beach and Coastal Paths

Sennen Cove Beach is a wide sandy beach. Two car parks are at the bottom of the slope; a large field car park is at the top of the access road to the bay. The car park layout may change, so check the situation before you travel.

The “Sennen Cove & Land’s End” walk is of moderate difficulty and 3.3 miles long. It starts at the Sennen Cove car park and ends either in Sennen Cove or at Land’s End. This gives you two different endpoints to choose from when planning your day. Surfaces and accessibility may change temporarily.

Another coastal walk runs from Pendeen to Sennen Cove. The route follows rugged Granite Coast paths to the golden sands of Sennen Cove. Along the way, there are opportunities to spot seals and seabirds. Pink thrift and purple heather bloom seasonally; wildlife sightings also depend on the time of year.

The First & Last Trail passes through Sennen and Mousehole, offers views of Mount Bay and ends at Land’s End. Unlike the “Sennen Cove & Land’s End” walk, it specifically includes Mousehole and views of Mount Bay; both routes name Land’s End as a possible destination. The three routes therefore differ in their specific landmarks: the “Sennen Cove & Land’s End” walk specifies its distance, difficulty and choice of endpoint; the route from Pendeen is characterised by coastal paths and seasonal wildlife-spotting opportunities; and the First & Last Trail by its villages and views.

An alternative return route for the “Sennen Cove & Land’s End” walk uses a section of National Cycleway Route 3. This section is mostly well surfaced and flat enough for wheelchair use. This feature applies to the section, not the entire walk. Maintenance or weather conditions may temporarily affect accessibility.

Surfing and Village Life

The Sennen Surfing Centre is right on Sennen’s golden sandy beach and offers a range of surf lessons. Beginners’ lessons start with beach safety and equipment; then move on to paddling and catching waves. The centre provides all the equipment in every lesson package.

On Sennen’s seafront, there is a free-to-use telescope with two viewing levels, designed for safe use by children and wheelchair users. The historic lifeboat is also part of life in Sennen: its regular launch is an important feature of the village and supports the region’s tourism economy. St Sennen’s Church is the “First and Last” church on mainland Britain.
