Boscastle Harbour brings together its maritime past and a cultural destination today: the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic is located there, and the South West Coast Path National Trail passes through the harbour. Highlights also include the Boscastle Harbour Walk and distinctive landscape and history features, including Valency Valley, Willapark and Forrabury Stitches.

Museum and Harbour

The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic is located at the harbour in Boscastle, Cornwall. From Easter 2026 through 31 October 2026, it is open daily, including public holidays. The collection comprises many thousands of objects, texts and documents. Its varied contents give a visit to the museum a cultural focus of its own, alongside the history of the harbour.

The harbour itself also tells the story of Boscastle’s past: the listed structure known as “South Harbour Pier, Quay and Walls on South West Side of Harbour” dates from around 1584. As a busy trading harbour, Boscastle exported grain, roofing slate and bark for tanning leather. The historic structures and trading history thus shed light on different aspects of the place.

Coastal Path and Walk

The South West Coast Path National Trail passes through Boscastle Harbour. There is also the Boscastle Harbour Walk, an easy stroll through the scenic village. Along the route, you can see the river, the old harbour, the well-known blowhole, sea views and local wildlife.

Woodland, Coastal Headland and Fields

Mixed oak woodland grows in Valency Valley, rich in lichens and mosses. This woodland offers a different landscape focus from the coastal views along the Boscastle Harbour Walk: here, the trees and the lichens and mosses take centre stage, while there it is the river, harbour and sea views.

Willapark lies west of the harbour, on the edge of the coastal headland, and is a short walk from Boscastle. This description places Willapark by the coast without equating it with the route of the National Trail. Forrabury Stitches, meanwhile, is a historic field system: it divides a larger continuous area of land into several sections. This field layout adds a historical perspective on the landscape to the woodland and coastal themes.

Getting There and Taking a Break

The timing is important for bus planning: in summer 2022, Go Cornwall Bus route 95 ran between Bude and Wadebridge. It stopped at Boscastle car park and toilets; from there, the harbour and the South West Coast Path were accessible via a short walk. If you plan to travel by bus today, check the current service before your trip.

The café at the harbour serves Cornish pasties, cream teas and ice cream, as well as other hot and cold refreshments. Check what is currently on offer before your visit.
