When looking for a hotel in Redhill, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on: nature, culture, climbing or aviation. The themes range from the landscape at Earlswood Common and the history of the Harlequin to activities with set durations. This can help you organise your interests and decide whether nature, historical culture or a specific activity matters most to you when planning.

Landscape and nature

Earlswood Common comprises two large lakes, several smaller ponds, wetland corridors, scattered trees and woodland, and species-rich, partly improved grassland. A botanical feature is the nationally rare common chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile). Earlswood Common is designated as a Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Nature Conservation Interest. Local conditions and access arrangements may change; check them before your visit.

Culture and activities

The Harlequin opened in December 1986 in Redhill town centre, in Warwick Quadrant, as a multi-purpose theatre and arts centre. This gives Redhill a clear historical cultural connection, distinct from its landscape and sporting themes.

There is an orienteering course on Redhill Common. This makes orienteering another activity to consider, alongside the climbing and flying experiences with set durations.

Adventure Climb at The Light Redhill has 21 climbing routes in three zones and two racing walls. A session includes a safety briefing, putting on a climbing harness, and a 55-minute climbing session supervised by climbing experts. The 55 minutes refers to the climbing session itself; the safety briefing and putting on the harness are also part of the Adventure Climb session. The Ninja Zone includes an 8-metre-high Leap of Faith.

Redhill Aviation Flight Centre offers flying experiences ranging from 30-minute experience flights to aerobatics. It also offers a 30- or 60-minute introductory flying lesson. For planning your day, there are three specific durations to consider: 55 minutes for the supervised climbing session, 30 or 60 minutes for the introductory flying lesson, and 30 minutes for an experience flight. The 55-minute climbing session and the 60-minute introductory flying lesson differ by just five minutes.

Airfield, dining and market

Visitor parking at Redhill Aerodrome is limited, particularly Monday to Friday. Bear this restriction in mind when planning a visit. Hangar 9 Cafe offers a different focus: all-day dining and a viewing platform overlooking aircraft operations.

An open-air market with stalls selling meat, fish and fresh vegetables takes place on Redhill High Street. Market times and the range of stalls may change, so check the current dates and selection before travelling.
