Beckley brings together woodland walks, wine and a Farmers Market held on a regular monthly schedule. This offers different starting points for planning: Beckley Wood is for walks, Oxney Organic Estate for tours and tastings, and the market provides a recurring date. You can first decide whether nature, a visit to the winery or Market Saturday will be the focus of your stay. This lets you choose based on specific interests rather than a set itinerary.

Woodland walks and strolls

Beckley Wood is a 145-hectare mixed woodland plantation. A footpath through Beckley Wood runs along a wide, surfaced track accessible to wheelchairs, horses and bicycles. Further along, there are stiles; eventually, the footpath joins another footpath leading into the adjoining Flatroper's Wood. If you choose this route, you should therefore take both the surfaced section and the later stretch and connection to the neighbouring woodland into account when planning.

A generally easy three-mile walk starts in the village of Beckley. Its length and starting point are useful reference points; the general rating gives a broad indication of difficulty. Some paths can also be muddy, so bear this in mind when planning a walk. For the walk, the starting point and distance are useful; for the footpath through Beckley Wood, the surfaced section and connection to Flatroper's Wood are the practical reference points.

Vineyard and winery

Oxney Organic Estate is an organic vineyard and winery. The winery is housed in an old, picturesque oast house in the middle of the vineyard. This gives the visitor destination a specific architectural landmark: the vineyard and winery are right next to each other.

Visitors can visit the estate for tours and tastings. This is a different kind of outing from a walk: here, you can focus your visit on the winemaking facilities and wine experience rather than a route. If you want to plan a tour or tasting in advance, check the specific dates and availability beforehand.

Farmers Market and travel dates

The Farmers Market takes place in the Village Hall every fourth Saturday of the month. If the market is important to your trip, this schedule makes choosing your travel dates a specific planning consideration: you can arrange your stay to include the fourth Saturday. Check the specific date before setting off if you want to plan around the market. You can then balance the rest of your stay between a walk and a visit to the winery without losing sight of the market date.

All Saints Beckley

All Saints Beckley is one of the parish’s two churches. If you would like to include the church in your stay, check beforehand whether a visit is possible.
