At the edge of the farm, the Grevensberg holiday home sits in an idyllic, secluded location; the farm also offers educational activities about farm life and nature. The programme highlights nature, wildlife and local connections. A historical reference and a local origin legend add to this picture of Grevensberg. For planning your trip, accommodation, farm activities and local history offer different perspectives to consider.

Holiday home at the edge of the farm

The holiday home has a Japanese-style garden of around 320 m². The accommodation details therefore cover both its position at the edge of the farm and a distinctive garden design. When looking for a holiday home, you can weigh these two features differently: the secluded location describes where the house is situated on the farm, while the garden adds its own design element. Consider which aspect of the accommodation matters most to your choice.

Farm-based educational activities

Since 2021, Grevensberg farm has offered a range of farm-based educational activities. These include visits by school classes as an out-of-school learning experience and an annual course in which children discover the farm and nature one afternoon each month. The school-class programme has four parts, which can also be booked individually; please coordinate the arrangements before your arrival.

For second-grade classes, the school programme covers different tree species, forest animals—especially ants—and how these topics relate to Brekendorf. In 2026, the annual courses are aimed at children aged 5 to 15; this year, they focus more closely on the farm’s domestic animals. The age range may change in future course years. The two options therefore differ: a school-class programme divided into four parts that can be booked individually, and a monthly annual course.

Local history and regional context

Grevensberg is first mentioned as a Hufe in 1542. A local origin legend from Brekendorf tells a different kind of story about the past: an ancestral settlement is said to have stood northeast, between Brekendorf and Grevensberg; an ant infestation supposedly prompted its residents to dismantle their houses and rebuild elsewhere. The dated reference and the legend offer different points of reference—on the one hand, a year; on the other, an explanation told as a legend.

Ants connect the two topics in different ways: in the origin legend, the ant infestation prompts the relocation described; in the school programme, ants are a particularly prominent forest animal. Storytelling and learning content thus share a motif, while making different points. For regional context, Grevensberg is in the municipality of Brekendorf, which is part of the Hüttener Berge Nature Park. The municipality’s inclusion in the nature park places it in its regional context; the course description, by contrast, focuses on the farm, nature and specific learning topics. Grevensberg therefore offers both a regional connection and a focused thematic experience at the farm.
