Grube brings together Baltic Sea beaches, village history and nature watching—three distinct themes to consider when planning a stay. Rosenfelder Strand is 2.5 kilometres long and gives Grube access to the Baltic Sea. When looking for accommodation, you can first consider whether the beach, culture or time outdoors should shape your stay.

Beach and nature watching

Rosenfelder Strand is a natural beach with no visitor charge. It has areas for dog owners and FKK (nudist) visitors; the dune landscape is considered unspoilt. Check local access rules before your visit.

The birdwatching station is near Rosenfelder Strand. It includes three hectares of water and eleven hectares of extensively managed grassland. Three observation openings offer close-up views of various bird species; visibility depends on the season. The station is best reached on foot or by bicycle. Signposting and access conditions may change, so it is advisable to check for current information before setting out.

White storks can also be observed: they nest on the former dairy chimney near Haus Avalon, close to the church. After they return from their wintering grounds, you can watch the nesting activity live.

Village history and architecture

The Grube Village Museum is housed in a typical building dating from 1890. Its ethnographic and prehistoric collection focuses on rural life before the arrival of modern technology. Topics include reed harvesting and processing, as well as the drainage of Lake Grube in 1938. Exhibitions may change.

St. Jürgen’s Church in Grube was first mentioned in a document in 1232 and is one of the oldest early Gothic brick churches. Inside is an important 15th-century triptych altarpiece, considered a significant example of late Gothic panel painting. Grube therefore offers insights into both rural ways of life and medieval church art, without reducing the two to the same experience.

Exploring the area around Grube

From Grube, you can explore the wider OstseeFerienLand region using more than 300 kilometres of developed, signposted cycling and hiking trails. This offers the choice of making either cycling or hiking the focus of your excursions. As routes and signposting may change, check the current route before setting out on a specific tour.

The Grube Scout grounds include a lake, several hills, a 400-metre canoe course and an amphitheatre. The local Scout group maintains the grounds; check locally on access and use before planning a visit. At Grube LSC Condor airfield, introductory courses and sightseeing flights are available. Flight offerings and operating conditions may change—check them before booking.
