Grambek lies east of the Elbe-Lübeck Canal in a wooded, hilly landscape in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park. The canal next to the village is considered a recreational waterway and is used by anglers and water sports enthusiasts. This gives Grambek a clear connection to the water while also placing it in a natural setting. Fish farming, information about amphibians and cycling offer different ways to plan your stay.

Fish Farming and Farm Shop in Grambek

The local fish farm raises native food fish organically in 44 ponds. In the village centre, the Fischer ut Grambek farm shop sells fish fresh or smoked. If you plan to visit the farm shop, check the current selection and certification in advance. This gives you a specific connection to local production and sales in the centre as you plan your visit.

Nature Watching at the Amphibian Information Point

The Amphibian Information Point documents a nationally significant amphibian population associated with the municipality’s diverse landscapes and bodies of water. A short circular walking trail is linked to the site, offering a way to combine a walk with a focus on natural history. Wildlife visibility varies by season, so a particular sighting should not be the sole reason for taking the trail.

Cycling from Mölln to Grambek

A regional cycling route leads from Mölln to Grambek on a cycle path alongside the road. It is mostly flat, with only gentle climbs, but is only partly suitable for road bikes. Surface conditions can change, so check them before setting out. Unlike the short circular walking trail at the Amphibian Information Point, the cycling route connects two places rather than forming a small loop. The two options therefore differ in activity and route type.

More Things to Do in the Duchy of Lauenburg

The wider travel destination of the Duchy of Lauenburg offers more options in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park, including hiking, cycling, canoeing and swimming in forest lakes. There are four signposted cycling tours, while hiking trails, observation towers, nature trails and places to rest provide further opportunities for exploration. Covering an area of about 35 by 17 kilometres, the nature park provides habitats for kingfishers, white-tailed eagles and cranes, among others. This offers a regional perspective, while Grambek’s amphibian population is the village’s own point of connection with nature.

Long-distance hiking and cycling routes also pass through the Duchy of Lauenburg. The European long-distance hiking trails E1, E6 and E9 run from north to south via Ratzeburg, Mölln and Lauenburg. The Old Salt Route long-distance cycle route runs from Lauenburg to Lübeck along the Elbe-Lübeck Canal through the duchy. These regional routes cover a wider area than the cycling connection between Mölln and Grambek.

Cultural attractions in the Duchy of Lauenburg include the Elbe Shipping Museum in Lauenburg/Elbe and the Duchy of Lauenburg District Museum in Ratzeburg. At the Elbe Shipping Museum, the interactive, three-storey “People-Model-Machine” exhibition explores shipping; visitors can get hands-on at models and activity stations. The District Museum displays exhibits on the history of the Dukes of Lauenburg and the inner-German border.
