Wippra offers three hiking trails with different distances: the official Naturistenstieg, the Planet Trail and the Wippra Adventure Trail. Their distances range from around 4 km to 6 km and about 14 km. The Planet Trail and Adventure Trail are circular walks; the Planet Trail also has a solar system theme. This makes it easy to compare the options by distance, route type and focus.
The Three Trails in Wippra
The official Naturistenstieg starts near the Wippra Reservoir and runs for about 14 km through woodland, with shaded paths and sunny meadows. It is therefore the longest of the three routes. If you take the landscape into account as well as distance when choosing, this route offers woodland, shade and open, sunny stretches. Before setting out, check local access requirements and any booking conditions.
The Planet Trail starts at Wippra Town Hall and is an easy, 6 km circular walk. A scale model of the solar system and information boards about the planets give the route its thematic focus. It passes through dense woodland and open meadows. If you enjoy exploring a clearly defined theme while hiking, the model and boards provide concrete points of interest; the landscape along the route adds another perspective on the solar system.
The Wippra Adventure Trail starts at the car park at Am Anger 7 and is a moderately difficult circular walk of around 4 km. You can allow about two hours for the hike. It is shorter than the Planet Trail, but is rated moderately difficult rather than easy. Distance, difficulty rating and duration together give you concrete guidance for planning your day.
Choosing a Distance and Focus
When comparing the two circular walks, the Planet Trail is the longer route at 6 km and is rated easy; the Adventure Trail is shorter at around 4 km and is rated moderately difficult. The difference shows that a shorter route is not automatically the easier one. The Planet Trail focuses on the solar system, with its model and information boards, while the Adventure Trail’s approximate two-hour duration offers an additional guide for planning your time.
At about 14 km, the Naturistenstieg is considerably longer than both circular walks. This presents different choices: an easy themed walk, a shorter moderately difficult route with a stated duration, or a longer trail through woodland, along shaded paths and across sunny meadows. Which option you choose depends on whether distance, difficulty, theme or the time you have available is most important for your outing.
More Activities in the Leisure Area
The Wippra leisure area also features a climbing crag, a 1,000 m summer toboggan run, a high ropes course and Kneipp facilities. These offer a distinct leisure focus alongside the hiking trails. As opening times may vary by season, check which attractions are operating during your visit. This helps you plan your activities around the season.
