Near Hohenwarthe, a waterway junction connects the Mittelland Canal with the Elbe-Havel Canal. When looking for a holiday apartment in Möser, you can also consider the wider destination of the Jerichower Land: water engineering, landscape and culture offer different themes to help plan your trip.

Waterways and Landscape

The complex near Hohenwarthe includes a canal bridge, the Hohenwarthe double lock and an information point for visitors. The bridge is 918 metres long. The bridge and lock illustrate waterway construction from different perspectives; visitor information is available at the information point.

In the wider Jerichower Land area, two cycle routes offer another way to explore its waterways and landscape. The Elbe Cycle Route runs through the district from north to south. The Elbe-Havel Cycle Route follows the canal through the natural landscapes of the Jerichower Land and connects the Elbe Cycle Route with the Havel Cycle Route. The routes therefore differ in their stated orientation: one traverses the district from north to south, while the other links two cycle routes.

Near Hohenwarthe, the vineyard rises to 76 metres above sea level on the western edge of the Fläming. From there, it offers far-reaching views across the Elbe Valley and the surrounding landscapes. Near Körbelitz, a megalithic tomb lies about one kilometre southeast of the village. It points to settlement in the area around 6,000 years ago. Views of today’s landscape and evidence of early settlement offer two different ways to explore the surroundings.

Mills and Regional History

Near Schermen, the Bocksmühle is a historic watermill on the Beeke. Its waterwheel is in operation. The mill is also a country inn, with indoor seating, a veranda and a beer garden. As its operations and seating options may change, check what is currently available before your visit.

In the wider Jerichower Land destination, Jerichow Monastery brings architecture, gardens and a museum together in one place. It is regarded as a landmark of the Jerichower Land and as the oldest brick building in northern Germany. Visitors can learn about the monastery’s history in the monastery museum; the monastery garden was designed based on historical models.

In Burg, the Historic Tannery offers insights into leather production. It is a fully preserved technical monument. The town’s fortifications are another focus: the Berlin Gate Tower dates from the second town wall, built around 1400, and is one of the last of the roughly 30 defensive and watchtowers that once stood there. The Witch Tower, part of the fortifications dating from the 11th century, also survives. The towers thus lead to different periods in the town’s history.

Leitzkau Castle adds Weser Renaissance architecture to the region’s cultural attractions. It is an important example of this style on the Romanesque Road and is regarded as the most significant castle built in this period in the Middle Elbe area.
