Local history, cycling and the activities offered by EifelAdventures give you different ways to plan a trip to Berlingen. Historic buildings include Trierer Einhäuser with distinctive floor plans; EifelAdventures offers everything from ziplining and games to overnight stays in tree tents. If you want to combine several activities, check the availability of activities, dining options and overnight stays in advance.

Discover Berlingen’s architectural history

Berlingen’s cultural heritage includes St. Quirinus Catholic Church, a three-aisled basilica built from basalt in 1883, and a six-bay farmhouse with an integrated bakehouse and secondary dwelling, dating from 1808. The village is also home to several well-preserved Trierer Einhäuser. These traditional Eifel farmhouses combine living quarters, a stable and a barn under one roof. The Trierer Einhaus at Kyller Weg 10 dates from 1882.

Berlingen’s cultural heritage map uses colors to mark streets and red dots to indicate photo locations. Kartoffelstraße is considered Berlingen’s first paved street. Haus Bursch dates from around 1850; a wayside shrine can be seen from Berlinger Straße. Local expressions are also part of the cultural landscape: their use remains widespread among Berlingen’s long-time residents.

Activities and accommodation at EifelAdventures

At EifelAdventures, ziplining takes you from treetop to treetop on 12 ziplines above the Berlinger Bach valley, at heights of up to 50 meters. Other activities include adventure mini golf, soccer billiards and cross-boules. While the zipline takes you across the valley, the other activities focus on different games.

For an overnight stay, EifelAdventures offers tree tents under the name “Dreaming in the Trees.” The café and beer garden serve snacks as well as lunch and dinner. Before your trip, check which activities, dining options and overnight stays are available.

Cycling and using your accommodation as a base

The Eifel-Ardennen cycle route runs from Pelm to Berlingen and the EifelAdventures leisure park. EifelAdventures’ accommodation is right next to hiking and cycling trails. Guests can choose between a breakfast buffet and self-catering; parking is available for motorcycles and bicycles. If you’re planning a specific route, check for possible closures or diversions. You can also confirm current parking options in advance if needed.

The Vulkaneifel as a wider destination

In the wider Vulkaneifel destination, maars and eruption centers shape the geological landscape: to date, 77 maars have been identified there and 350 eruption centers counted, around 270 of them from the more recent phase. The Ulmen Maar marks the most recent volcanic eruption in the Vulkaneifel, which took place around 10,900 years ago. In Daun, the Eifel Volcano Museum features three-dimensional landscape models of cinder cones, maars and mineral springs, as well as exhibits on West Eifel volcanism. In Strohn, the Volcano House is an interactive museum featuring a lava fissure wall around 30,000 years old, about six meters long and four meters high. This means that, in the wider travel region, you’ll find specific ways to explore the volcanic landscape alongside Berlingen’s historic buildings.
