Eulenkopf gives Eulenbis a distinctive geographical focal point. The hill is 422 meters above sea level and is the highest point in the Weilerbach collective municipality. The Eulenkopf Tower stands above the village; from there, panoramic views extend across the Kaiserslautern region. There is a parking lot at the tower at EulenkopfstraĂźe 2, 67685 Eulenbis.

Hiking at Eulenkopf

The “Attempts at Ore Mining at Eulenkopf” circular hiking trail is 14.5 kilometers long and passes through Eulenbis and Erzenhausen. It runs through the Eulenkopf landscape conservation area and combines shady forest paths with scenic high-altitude trails. Near the old Roman road at Eulenbis, the route offers impressive views. If you’d like to include both forest stretches and views from the hills in one hike, you’ll find these different trail experiences on the same route.

Other trails differ in their starting points, names or routes. The GeoTour Eulenkopf starts right at Eulenkopf, near Eulenbis. The Teufelstour is a premium trail awarded the German Hiking Seal and passes through Eulenbis. The “Blue Cross” hiking trail of the Palatinate Forest Association runs from Kaiserslautern to Wolfstein; trail maps showing its route are posted at prominent points in Eulenbis and Erzenhausen. The Eulenkopf Association maintains six signposted hiking trails, which are also shown on trail maps at prominent points in both municipalities. When choosing a route, you can take several different features into account: the specific length of the circular hike, the GeoTour’s starting point, the Teufelstour’s classification or the Blue Cross’s endpoints.

Tower and Beerewei(n) Museum

The Eulenkopf Tower houses the highest wedding room in the Palatinate. The tower can be visited by prior arrangement; please schedule your visit in advance. The Beerewei(n) Museum in Eulenbis is dedicated specifically to the production of Beerewei(n). Visitors can sample Beerewei(n) there. If you’d like to plan a tasting, check in advance whether one is available on your intended visit date. The tower and museum appeal to different interests: panoramic views and the unique wedding room on the one hand, and the production and tasting of Beerewei(n) on the other.
