Bruchmühlbach-Miesau combines local history with nature and activity: Vogelbach is home to the Kneipp facility and historic Spitalkirche, while a museum in Miesau traces the history of vacuum cleaners. Other highlights include the Tausendmühle, the Elendsklamm gorge and a heated outdoor pool with lanes of different lengths. When planning your visit, you can choose between historical attractions, outdoor activities and swimming.
Outdoors: Kneipp Facility, Trails and Outdoor Pool
The Kneipp facility in Vogelbach was established in 1977 and renovated in 2009; a shelter was added alongside it during the renovation. From the car park at the sports ground, it is about a five-minute walk to the facility along a forest track. No special level of fitness is required. The Bruchmühlbach-Miesau sports trail offers another way to get active: it has eleven stations for simple fitness exercises amid nature.
On the Sagenhafter Waldpfad trail, the section between Bruchmühlbach and Vogelbach has been permanently rerouted due to an acute risk of landslides. Permanent diversion signs are in place. Check the current route status before setting out.
The Waldwarmfreibad Bruchmühlbach-Miesau has a heated swimming pool with four 25-metre lanes and two 50-metre lanes. There is also a 5-metre diving tower, as well as one- and three-metre springboards. The different lane lengths and diving facilities offer a range of options for a swimming pool visit. The pool is accessible for visitors with disabilities and wheelchair users; pool access aids and designated disabled parking spaces are available. Mill History and Museums
The Tausendmühle in Bruchmühlbach-Miesau was built in 1598 and has a varied history as a mill spanning around 400 years. During guided tours, old machinery and equipment bring the historic work of millers to life for visitors. Tours are available on request. If you would like to include this in your stay, specifically enquire about a tour.
The Vacuum Cleaner Museum in Miesau traces the history of vacuum cleaners over several decades, including unusual accessories. The Willi Morsch Castle Museum houses paintings of castles, carved coats of arms and taxidermy. Visits are possible by appointment.
The Spitalkirche in Vogelbach also tells of an earlier role the village played: built in 1131/32, it served as a place for pilgrims to stop and rest, and for the sick to be admitted and cared for. Together with the history of the Tausendmühle and the museums’ collections, it offers various ways to explore local history.
Plan Your Visit to Nature and Travel
The Elendsklamm gorge is a natural monument in Bruchmühlbach-Miesau with rare flora and fauna. For travel, the town has a stop on the Ludwigshafen–Saarbrücken railway line. Bruchmühlbach-Miesau is also a hub for bus routes to Waldmohr, Homburg/Saar, Kusel, Zweibrücken, Ramstein and Landstuhl.
You can choose between the activities on offer according to your interests: mill history and collections sit alongside nature, outdoor activities and swimming.
