Staudernheim offers several reasons to plan a stay around outdoor activities: signposted hiking trails lead into the surrounding area, an approximately 8-kilometre stretch of river is designated for fishing, and an observation tower offers views across the Nahe Valley. The 3,500-metre barefoot path between Staudernheim and Bad Sobernheim adds a distinctive way to experience the landscape. When planning your trip, you can first decide whether hiking, fishing, the views or walking barefoot should be the main focus.

Hiking Trails, River and Views

Staudernheim’s well-maintained, signposted hiking trails lead into the surrounding area. At the Jungenwald hiking car park, there are benches and a barbecue area. Check local access conditions before your trip. For fishing, Staudernheim offers an approximately 8-kilometre stretch of river with both calm and fast-flowing sections. Fish include trout, eels and whitefish. Fishing permits and regulations may vary; if you plan to fish, check the applicable requirements.

An observation tower offers views across the Nahe Valley. Staudernheim’s local outdoor network is also used by cyclists, inline skaters and Nordic walkers. The views and the activities on the network offer different highlights: here, the focus is on looking out across the valley; there, on use by different groups of active visitors.

The 3,500-metre barefoot path runs between Staudernheim and Bad Sobernheim and combines an experience of the landscape with barefoot relaxation. Unlike the signposted hiking trails, walking barefoot is part of what this path offers. The path may operate seasonally. Before visiting, find out whether it will be open during your planned travel period.

Culture and Landscape in the Wider Destination of Bad Kreuznach

The bridge houses in Bad Kreuznach were built from 1480 onwards due to a lack of space. The half-timbered buildings stand on the piers of the old Nahe Bridge, which was built around 1300. The houses and the bridge therefore differ both in their construction and in when they were built.

Since 1985/86, the museums of the city of Bad Kreuznach have been housed in the listed former Bangert manor, which is set in a historic park. The rock hermitage in Bretzenheim offers a different cultural attraction: the place of worship, carved entirely into the rock, probably dates back to prehistoric times and was repurposed in the early Christian period. It can be visited from the outside, without a guide, all year round. Entry to the rock dwelling is currently not possible due to a rockfall.

In Windesheim, the organ ART Museum is a musical instrument museum that is unique of its kind in Germany. The Hahnenbachtal tour in Kirner Land also offers a distinctive hiking experience: it is certified as a “Traumschleife” (Dream Loop) and took first place in the day hikes category of the “Germany’s Most Beautiful Hiking Trails” competition in 2012. The Salinental valley between Bad Kreuznach and Bad Münster is a unique cultural landscape steeped in history.

For a visit to the Rhineland-Palatinate Open-Air Museum, specific walking directions are also available: the route from Bad Sobernheim railway station is signposted and takes around 25 minutes. For information on stays, accommodation and booking, leisure activities, wellness, and wine and dining, contact the tourist information offices of the local authorities and towns in the district, or Naheland Touristik in Kirn.
