From Lind, hiking views across the western Ahr Mountains extend as far as the Vulkaneifel, the Siebengebirge and the Hohe Acht. Local circular hikes and sections of the AhrSteig offer different scales for planning a tour. Specific information about distance, duration and trail markings helps you assess the hiking options. The Linder Höhe and historic buildings also provide distinct points of interest during your stay.
Hiking between panoramas and circular routes
There are four signposted circular hiking routes in the municipality of Lind, with a combined length of 35 kilometres; around 20 hiking trails are marked in total. The Lind Panorama Trail is 6.5 kilometres long, takes about two hours, is rated easy and has 171 metres of ascent and descent. The Dreidörfer nature experience trails around Lind include a 16-kilometre loop. In direct comparison, the Panorama Trail is the shorter route, taking around two hours and rated easy; the loop offers a longer-distance option. A linden tree symbol marks the route along the Panorama Trail, and the information provided includes the topic of weather. Check the current signs and local trail conditions before setting off.
The AhrSteig and the Linder Höhe
The AhrSteig is a long-distance hiking trail divided into seven stages. It connects the source of the Ahr near Blankenheim with its mouth near Sinzig and follows natural trails through valleys, highlands, vineyards and forests in the Ahr region. In Lind, a section of the AhrSteig follows the Panorama Trail. The Linder Höhe is a waypoint on the fourth stage and a panoramic plateau in Lind at an elevation of 488 metres. Stage 4 is marked in both directions with the blue AhrSteig logo. This makes it possible to distinguish between a local hiking trail and a multi-stage long-distance trail when planning; the Linder Höhe is a specific named point on Stage 4.
Church and traces of history
Lind is first mentioned in the Prümer Urbar, dated to 893. Different building periods come together at the Catholic parish church of St. Notburgis: the tower has a core believed to be medieval and a Baroque cupola; the Neo-Gothic nave was built in 1906. The different parts of the building make the church’s architectural history a distinct subject for those interested in architecture. St. Notburgis also has two 18th-century grave crosses and a fragment of a cross. The Nativity Chapel is considered a highlight directly on the hiking trail.
In nearby Lind-Obliers, the ruins of Wensburg form a heritage area. It includes medieval remains of a circular wall and a zwinger wall, as well as a keep with a tent roof.
