There are three specific things to consider when planning a stay in Eichenbach: the local Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, hiking trails of varying lengths, and a road cycling starting point at AhrtalstraĂźe 55. This lets you decide whether to focus on local history, a longer hike or a road cycling tour.

Hiking Trails and Landscape

The third stage of the AhrSteig runs from Aremberg to Insul, reaches Eichenbach via steep forest paths and continues through the Eichenbacher Forst after passing through the village. It is 19.4 kilometres long and rated difficult. If you plan to hike this stage, check the current route and any possible diversions before setting out.

The FĂĽrstin-Margaretha-Weg is approximately 20.7 kilometres long. It leads from the Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers to Eichenbach and then continues through a beech avenue towards Antweiler. There is also a 3-kilometre shortcut between Wershofen and Eichenbach along forest paths. Check the current route and trail conditions before your hike.

Eichenbach lies almost entirely within a designated bird protection area. This landscape context complements the specific routes: the AhrSteig features steep forest paths and the Eichenbacher Forst, while the FĂĽrstin-Margaretha-Weg passes through a beech avenue towards Antweiler.

Chapel and Local History

The Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers is a local cultural heritage attraction. It was built between 1937 and 1941 and contains wooden figures of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, as well as a relief dating from 1626 that came from a wayside shrine. The wooden figures were restored in 1977. Their history also reaches beyond the chapel: they came from the former chapel at MaĂźholder, a former farm near the mouth of the Eichenbach stream where it flows into the Ahr.

The Bläke-Fritz statue is also associated with the Fürstin-Margaretha-Weg in Eichenbach. Bläke Fritz travelled through the Eifel as a tinker, repairing gutters. His wit and jokes made him well known beyond the Eifel. The statue and the chapel offer different points of focus: one tells the story of a figure from local tradition, while the other is a historic building with its figures and older relief.

Road Cycling and Bus Connections
