Trinwillershagen offers discoveries with a variety of focuses: the salt towers are in the village, while the Ostseemühle, the Late Gothic church and bell tower in the village district of Langenhanshagen, and the manor house in Wiepkenhagen offer further points of interest within the municipality. Planning is therefore not just about one particular attraction, but also about which village district and time slot you want to focus on. The municipality lies in the hinterland of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula.

Salt Towers and Cycle Routes

The salt towers of Trinwillershagen include a tower with a 16-sided floor plan, internal graduation works and misting systems. On Thursdays, visitors are invited to guided tours where they can learn about the stories and secrets of the salt towers. The stated date range runs through December 17, 2026; check the specific date before travelling.

Cycle tours also offer a distinctive way to explore the municipality: its villages serve as starting points for rides along the Baltic coast on well-developed cycle paths. This is a different way to spend your stay than visiting at a fixed tour or event time. No specific route or journey duration is implied.

Langenhanshagen: Church, Art and Oil

The church in Langenhanshagen is a Late Gothic fieldstone building dating from the first half of the 14th century. Its nave and chancel are rectangular; the interior includes a carved altar from the 15th century. Every year in summer, the church serves as an art studio for a week. Artists change from year to year, and visitors can watch them at work. Exact dates may vary from year to year. A bell tower in Langenhanshagen houses a bell dating from 1704. The organ gallery, with its organ by Barnim Grüneberg of Stettin, dates from 1879 and is currently in the Organ Museum in Malchow.

The Ostseemühle is also in Langenhanshagen. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., you can watch oil being pressed and sample various oils and flours. This small, family-run oil mill makes its products using gentle cold pressing and bottles them by hand. If you plan to visit, check the opening times before you travel.

Manor House and Remembrance

The manor house in Wiepkenhagen was built around 1880/90. The basic layout of a landscape garden is still present on its grounds. This gives the municipality two distinct historical points of interest: the architecture of the manor house with its surviving garden layout, and the church architecture and interior features in Langenhanshagen. A memorial stone in Langenhanshagen also commemorates the victims of the death march from the Barth concentration camp.

Timing Your Stay

For travel planning, the main difference between these activities is their schedule: Thursday is the shared weekday for oil pressing demonstrations at the Ostseemühle and guided tours of the salt towers. The church studio, by contrast, takes place during a week in summer, with exact dates varying. These differences can help you coordinate the visits you want with your overnight stays. Cycle tours along the Baltic coast are another focus, independent of the dates mentioned above. You can first choose the experience and time slot you want, then finalize your travel plans.
