Ahlbeck Seaside Resort combines a Baltic Sea beach, a historic pier and distinctive resort architecture. When choosing where to stay, it helps to consider the different features: designated areas and seasonal lifeguard supervision are central to the beach, while the promenade and surrounding area offer opportunities for sport and exercise. Those interested in the town’s history can explore everything from its founding to the pier clock.

Beach, Sport and Exercise

Ahlbeck Beach is supervised by lifeguards during the summer season. Towards Świnoujście, there are designated beach areas for naturists and for dogs and their owners. If you are looking for one of these areas in particular, check the relevant signs; lifeguard supervision applies during the summer season.

The Kaiserbäder sports beach is located at beach access points 1 Y and 1 Z between the Ahlbeck and Heringsdorf piers. The promenade also has a small sports ground with goals and baskets, as well as an activity promenade where the fitness equipment is free to use. This gives you a range of ways to get active: play ball at the sports ground or work out on the equipment.

Cyclists can ride from the promenade in Ahlbeck across the Polish border to Świnoujście. Zirowberg is a popular hiking destination, with lovely views of the Bay of Pomerania. The cycle route and hiking destination offer different ways to add exercise to your trip.

The Pier and Architectural History

The history of the village of “Ahlbeck adlig” began with a watermill on the Beek: the village was founded when the mill was built in 1700. Ahlbeck village church was built in 1895 on the initiative of Ahlbeck residents. The solid Prussian brick building is designed in the neo-Gothic style; highlights inside include the altar, the baptismal font and the octagonal wooden pulpit.

Ahlbeck Pier was built in 1898 and is considered Germany’s oldest surviving pier. The historic clock dating from 1911 stands on the forecourt and is a popular photo spot. These two dates give the pier and its forecourt their own historical points of reference. Ahlbeck also has several distinctive examples of resort architecture, adding further architectural sights to the pier and church.

Fishing, the Thermal Baths and Practical Information

The open-air fishing exhibition offers insights into the world of fishermen, their history and their future. If you plan to visit the exhibition, check the latest opening information beforehand. At the fishing beaches, there are stalls or adjoining restaurants where visitors can enjoy fresh fish. Since operators and offerings may change, it is advisable to check what is currently available if you are planning a meal there.

The OstseeTherme Usedom in Ahlbeck offers swimming and sauna facilities with pleasantly warm thermal water. Three of its six pools contain a 4% iodine brine solution. Ahlbeck Tourist Information is at DĂĽnenstraĂźe 45, right on the promenade and not far from the concert venue and pier. If you need the address for your plans, check it again before your visit.

Ahlbeck in the Wider Region

In the wider Heringsdorf destination, the 12-kilometre promenade connects Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin; it extends to Poland and is ideal for a stroll. This regional perspective complements the local attractions without requiring you to follow a particular itinerary.
