When planning a trip to Lambrechtshagen, two different themes stand out: the village church, with its long building history, and trails through the countryside. Local history is also closely connected to the place. Lambrechtshagen is considered the oldest place in the municipality and was first mentioned in a document on 8 July 1233. These historical points of interest can be combined with outdoor activities, without having to follow a set itinerary during your stay.

Village Church and Rectory

The village church, which dates back to the 13th century, has been carefully renovated since the late 1980s and is in good condition. Together with the rectory, it forms a listed historic ensemble. In the nave, the Gothic rib vault points to alterations around 1400. This brings the church’s early origins together with evidence of a later building phase.

The church’s furnishings include a gallery built in 1750 and painted with biblical scenes in 1759. The church also houses a silver-gilt chalice made by Rostock goldsmith Hans Klein in 1611. The ensemble also includes parkland with old fruit trees. A former stable building has been converted into a community center. The church, rectory and other features each reveal a different aspect of the historic ensemble.

Local History and Heritage Room

The Heritage Room in the community center features an exhibition dedicated to the history of the village and its districts. The exhibition opened in January 2026. The Heritage Room makes historical images, accounts and documents accessible to visitors. Items on display in January 2026 included, behind protective glass, the flag of an association founded in 1902 to care for bereaved families in the municipality.

Another historic object from Lambrechtshagen is a harmonium made by the Estey Organ Company. It was manufactured in the United States and completed on 6 December 1899. Details like these give local history a tangible context: alongside the documented mention of the village are its building history, memorabilia and accounts of life in the municipality.

Trails and Nature

The approximately 400-meter-long Schwarzer Weg (Black Path) is traffic-calmed because its access road is closed, and offers views across meadows and fields towards Doberan. According to local tradition, the path was surfaced in the late 19th century with black slag from a Rostock roofing-felt factory, which gave it its name. Here, a short trail goes hand in hand with a traditional explanation of the place name.

Large areas in Vorweden-Mönkweden are protected nature reserves. The Mönkweden Forest there is ideal for hiking and cycling. This means that, alongside cultural and historical attractions, there are also outdoor activities to choose from.

Cultural Activities and Planning Your Visit

The To Hus association offers readings, concerts, creative workshops and events on regional history. The church also hosts concerts and church music performances at irregular intervals. It is worth checking the latest dates for these events. If you are planning to visit the Heritage Room, it is also a good idea to check visitor information in advance.

You can plan your visit to Lambrechtshagen around different interests: the church and Heritage Room focus on architectural and local history, while the Schwarzer Weg and Mönkweden Forest offer trails and nature. Which of these themes matters most when choosing a hotel in Lambrechtshagen depends on what you would like to focus on during your stay.
