Teschow brings together historic buildings, a park on Lake Teterow and specific seasonal experiences. Teschow Castle lies on the eastern shore of the lake; the park extends down to the water. In the village, the manor bakehouse and forge also offer opportunities to explore architectural history and traditional crafts as separate topics. You can take a swim break at the natural beach of the Teschow bathing area. When planning, it makes a difference whether your main interest is architecture, a hands-on forging experience or a particular summer date. Boat trips and baking days each follow their own schedules, which you should check in advance.

Castle and Park

Teschow Castle lies on the eastern shore of Lake Teterow, in a park that extends down to the water’s edge. The building is an eleven-bay Neoclassical stucco building with a wing. “Eleven-bay” refers to the eleven vertical divisions of the façade; the number describes the building’s exterior layout, not the number of rooms. “Stucco building” refers to its construction, while “Neoclassical” describes its architectural style.

At the natural beach, the focus is on taking a swim break; at the castle, its park setting and architectural form draw attention to the landscape and architecture.

The present-day manor house in Teschow

The present-day manor house in Teschow was built between 1838 and 1842 on the commission of Ernst von BlĂĽcher. For the manor house, the focus is therefore on the period of construction and the person who commissioned it, while Teschow Castle is described by its architectural form and location.

Forge and Bakehouse

The Teschow manor bakehouse was built in 1850 next to the village forge. Their proximity makes traditional crafts a shared theme in the village: visitors can swing a blacksmith’s hammer themselves in the forge. At the manor bakehouse, by contrast, the focus is on the baking days. On selected dates in summer, visitors can enjoy fresh sheet cake and bread in the coffee garden. The baking days are therefore limited to specific summer dates. If you would like to plan for this particular experience, check the exact dates before your trip.

By the Lake and Out and About

The Teschow bathing area on Lake Teterow is a natural beach in Teschow, a district of Teterow, and makes a good stop for a swim break. The bathing area has two specific roles in your plans: it is a place to take a break by the water and also the departure point for the passenger boat “Regulus.” During the season, the boat leaves the bathing area every hour from 10:45 a.m. for Burgwall Island and the Teschow landing stage. Advance registration or arrangements with the boat operator are required to travel to the Teschow landing stage. Make these arrangements in advance if you plan to go to the landing stage.

The time frames for the two seasonal offerings are not interchangeable when planning a specific visit: boat trips run during the season, while baking days take place only on selected summer dates. For your chosen date, check both the seasonal boat schedule and the specific baking days.
