Hof Redentin lies a few kilometres north of Wismar and is part of the municipality of Krusenhagen. The Low German Redentin Easter Play is associated with the area: Cistercian monk Peter Kalff wrote it in 1463 at Hof Redentin near Wismar, which then belonged to Doberan Monastery. This local and monastic history gives the literary heritage a clear connection to the area.

The Redentin Easter Play: Work and Manuscript

The play has survived only in a manuscript dated 1464, probably a copy of the original made in Redentin. The manuscript contains 2,025 lines of the Comoedia de Christi passione et resurrectione. To understand the chronology, it is worth distinguishing between the work and its transmission: Kalff wrote it in 1463, while the surviving manuscript dates from 1464. The monastery connection goes further back: Redentin belonged to the Cistercian monastery of Doberan in the 14th century.

Manor House and Historic Traces

Another historic building is the listed manor house in Hof Redentin. It was probably built in its present form around 1850 and was altered several times through the 1920s. Its historic details include the wooden staircase to the upper floor and double-leaf doors. The manor house is at Redentiner LandstraĂźe 35 and 37. Krusenhagen is also home to a listed barn on the road to Gatzow / zu Ausbau 3.

Horses and Events

The area around the Redentiner MĂĽhle estate includes sandy woodland soils and meadows. The operation focuses on the individual and sustainable development of young horses, keeping them in conditions suited to their species and age, and providing professional training for their future performance. The annual closing hunt of the Mecklenburger Meute takes place at the estate every November. The pack is based at the Redentiner MĂĽhle estate and Gut Dalwitz. If you would like to include the hunt in your travel plans, check the specific event dates in advance.

The Baltic Sea Trophy is also held annually at Hof Redentin; in 2026, it took place for the fourth time. Alongside equestrian sport, the programme includes a row of stalls, food and drink, and family activities: pony rides, a petting zoo, a bouncy castle, a bungee trampoline and a hobby horsing course. The programme may vary from year to year. If you are planning your stay around the Trophy, check the dates and programme details in advance.
