Kieve lies on the upper Elde. In the village, a 13th-century church and a community center available for events by arrangement are set amid a landscape of lakes and gentle hills. This lets you experience village history, water and local events as different aspects of a stay in Kieve.

Village history in distinctive buildings

The church in Kieve dates from the 13th century. It is an early Gothic building made of fieldstone and brick, with a wooden bell tower adjoining its western side. The church is a protected historic monument. Its date and architectural style offer different clues to its origins: the century places the building in time, while the term “early Gothic” identifies its style. The rectory in Kieve is also a protected historic monument. Visitors interested in architectural history will therefore find more than one historic landmark in the village.

Community center and events

The community center in Kieve opened on August 2, 2024. It is the social and cultural hub for residents and is intended to be brought to life through regular events. The hall measures about 91 m² and can accommodate approximately 60 people. The center can be used for various types of events and is also open to interested people from outside the village. Use must be arranged in advance: this does not mean the building is freely accessible at all times. If you are planning an event or want to plan a visit around one, check the necessary arrangements or the specific date in advance.

Lakes, landscape and the Elde

South of Kieve, the gently rolling terrain is already part of the Wittstock-Ruppiner Heide. The Großer Kiever See is near Kieve and covers about 17 hectares. The Glambecksee, with Kieve’s public bathing area, is about three kilometers from Kieve. The clear-water lake covers 45 hectares and is up to 22 meters deep. The figures show a marked difference in size between the lakes; for a swimming stop, the public bathing area at the Glambecksee is the specific point of reference. Check local conditions before your visit. The Elde in the area around Kieve is considered suitable for canoeing.

Getting around and local events

The ELLI community transport service connects the villages in the region with places including Röbel, Wittstock and the Müritztherme. Rides can be booked in advance by phone. There is no fare, but drivers welcome donations. If a ride is important to your plans, confirm the current arrangements by phone in advance.

There is also a specific option for planning meals: Dorfkrug Kieve serves freshly prepared German cuisine, with a menu that changes weekly. Examples include roast duck, game goulash and pike-perch. Since the menu changes, it is best to ask about the current selection before your visit.

Kieve’s harvest festival has been held annually since 1946. If you would like to time your trip around it, check the specific date: the annual schedule does not replace advance planning.
