Lutowsee and Buttel Church represent two different aspects of Wokuhl-Dabelow: waterside scenery and architectural history. There is also a bathing area in Herzwolde, opportunities for observing nature, and cultural events. Each place and activity offers its own focus—choose what to prioritize during your stay according to your interests.

Waterside scenery at Lutowsee

Lutowsee is located in the Feldberger Seenlandschaft Nature Park, within the municipality of Wokuhl-Dabelow. It is a long, narrow lake with few indentations. In Herzwolde, there is a bathing area on Lutowsee with a small sunbathing lawn and a jetty. The lake and bathing area therefore offer different ways to enjoy time by the water: the lake defines the landscape, while the lawn and jetty characterize the bathing spot.

Buttel Church: Half-timbering and culture

Buttel Church in Dabelow is a half-timbered church built in 1855. It was built by Friedrich-Wilhelm Buttel, a master builder, senior building official, and Grand Ducal court architect. Its construction date and half-timbered design give the church a historical significance; it is also used for cultural events. Exhibitions and concerts take place there several times a year. If you would like to attend one of these events, check the latest dates in advance.

Nature watching and accommodation

One of Wokuhl-Dabelow’s attractions is the eagle-watching stand on Brückentiner Island. At the osprey-watching point, the nature park and Inselhotel Brückentinsee jointly operate a camera at an osprey nest. Both offerings put the osprey in the spotlight—one through a designated observation stand, the other through a camera at the nest.

The BrĂĽckentin Youth Nature Conservation Academy offers another activity for its guests: they can go on excursions from there by bicycle, boat, or canoe. If you are planning such excursions, check the services available before you arrive.

A 4-star hotel with a restaurant is located on the 40,000-square-meter Herz Island in GroĂźer BrĂĽckentinsee. This provides a specific accommodation and dining option for an overnight stay. Before booking, check the latest accommodation details and availability.

More nature and excursion destinations in the Mecklenburg Lake District

As a distinct regional context, the Mecklenburg Lake District offers further nature and cultural experiences. Müritz National Park is part of this region and is characterized by forests, bogs, lakes, and wide meadows. The Müritz National Park Hiking Trail covers the park’s landscape types and features in nine stages. It passes lakes, winds through ancient forests, goes by inland dunes, and leads to the source of the Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours in Müritz National Park, including guided walks in the Serrahn UNESCO World Heritage beech forest and tours from the water.

Another nature destination in the region is the Damerower Werder bison reserve. It is located on a peninsula in Lake Kölpin, in the Mecklenburg Lake District and the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. Visitors can observe bison there. The reserve also features a forest adventure trail with climbing opportunities, an ant house, an exhibition with touch-and-see panels, and a dendrophone. These activities offer a different focus from Wokuhl-Dabelow’s waterside scenery and architectural history.
