Wustrow is situated on a hill between Plätlinsee and Klenzsee. Waterways, a section of a pilgrimage trail and places connected with local history offer different ways to spend your stay. On the water, the recommended Schwaanhavel canoe trip leads from Wustrow across Plätlinsee and into the Schwaanhavel; on foot, a section of the Priepert–Wustrow Pilgrimage Trail runs alongside fields and an oak avenue. When planning, you can decide whether you would rather devote your time to paddling, the landscape or culture.

Waterways and shorelines

Wustrow is recommended as the starting point for the Schwaanhavel canoe trip. The route crosses Plätlinsee, enters the Schwaanhavel and continues to the exit into the Upper Havel Waterway. The Schwaanhavel is a natural tributary of the Havel, about 3.5 kilometres long. It winds through alder carr forests and meadows from the Havel-Kammer Canal to Plätlinsee. Check the latest information about the waterways before setting out on a paddling trip.

Kanuhof Wustrow rents out Canadian canoes and kayaks. Equipment includes paddles, life jackets, waterproof dry bags, gear barrels and waterway maps; canoeing technique instruction and tour advice are also available. The canoe centre is right at the portage point between Plätlinsee and Klenzsee and has a small campsite for paddlers and cyclists. Confirm the campsite’s current arrangements before your trip.

Wustrow bathing area on Plätlinsee has an extensive meadow with both shaded and sunny areas, as well as play equipment. Swimming conditions can vary by season; the facilities may also be maintained seasonally. Check the current status before your visit. Motorboats are prohibited at Wustrow beach on Plätlinsee.

On foot through the countryside

The Priepert–Wustrow section of the pilgrimage trail runs alongside fields and an oak avenue and crosses the road between Wustrow and Strasen. Trail conditions can vary; check them before setting out. Unlike the water route, this walk features fields and an avenue, while the description of the Schwaanhavel highlights alder carr forests, meadows and the river’s course. These contrasting landscapes can help you choose what to focus on.

Local history, art and architecture

The Wustrow local history museum is housed in the former schoolhouse and displays relics and exhibits from the town’s history. On view are historic tools, workbenches, furnishings from earlier times and items connected with club life in Wustrow and the surrounding area. Visitor information from April 2026 states that visits are available by prior arrangement by calling 039828 20 131, and that there are also regular opening hours during the peak tourist season. Please confirm the visiting arrangements before your trip.

The Alleys Gallery is located in the Lindenhaus at DorfstraĂźe 42; check visiting arrangements in advance. In Neu Drosedow, which belongs to the municipality of Wustrow, the old horse stable at Gut Drosedow manor is used for exhibitions and concerts. The gallery and the horse stable offer different cultural experiences: art at the Lindenhaus, and exhibitions and concerts in the old stable.

Wustrow village church was built in 1897 and has round-arched windows characteristic of Neo-Romanesque architecture. Inside, it has a wooden vaulted ceiling in the style of English cast-iron architecture. The windows and the vault represent different architectural features of the building: one shapes the view of the windows, the other the church interior.

The Helmut Sakowski Reading Room commemorates the work and life of writer Helmut Sakowski (1924–2005). It displays his original study, with a desk, work materials and a small library from his summer house in Pälitzhof. Check visiting arrangements in advance.
