Nature Garden and Stream
The Langen Jarchow Nature Garden is located behind an old fisherman's house. A stream that flows from nearby Neuhofer See partly winds its way around the garden. On the banks of this stream is an alder carr woodland, which provides shelter for herons and many other birds. The stream and alder carr woodland complement the garden theme with waterways and birdlife. Visitors are asked to register in advance; check beforehand whether this requirement is still in effect.
Tempzin Monastery: Architectural History and Routes
Nearby Tempzin Monastery offers a distinct focus on architectural history. Protected as historic monuments are the Gothic, two-storey preceptor's building (Warmhaus) dating from 1496, the care house, now a barn ruin, and the cemetery wall with its portal. The late Gothic monastery church, dating from the 16th century, has a three-aisled nave and an elongated, single-aisled choir with a polygonal 5/8 termination. This term describes the shape of the choir's east end. The preceptor's building is dated to 1496, while the church dates from the 16th century; these different dates and architectural forms stand side by side.
Langen Jarchow is part of one variant of the Cistercian Way to the pilgrimage monastery of Tempzin. A map published in 2023 shows this route designation. Check current signs and access before using the route. Another route also runs via Langen Jarchow and Zahrensdorf to Tempzin; check its availability and local conditions on site.
