A circular village that is still recognizable today, the history of a peat glassworks and the kramserei cultural venue in a historic hall farmhouse reveal different sides of Alt Krenzlin. There are also trails and places to rest in Klein Krams Ausbau, as well as events at various locations across the municipality. Here, local history can be explored through specific names, village layouts and places where people come together.

Circular Villages and Local History

Klein Krams still retains the layout of a classic circular village. Loosen, the oldest and highest-lying place in the municipality of Alt Krenzlin, was also originally laid out as a circular village and lies at 54 m above sea level. The two places reflect different periods: Klein Krams still has its classic layout today, while the description of Loosen records the village’s original form.

Another historical reference leads to Krenzliner HĂĽtte. The village grew out of a peat glassworks built in 1743 on the Klein Krams peat bog. The glassworks was closed in 1779; only the place name and the field name Glasschmelze remain. Both names recall the former operation, whose history differs from the village layouts still visible in Klein Krams today.

Culture at the kramserei

The kramserei is a cultural venue in a historic hall farmhouse. The building includes a hall and stage, a stable and a coach house. Its offerings include a sound workshop, theater, live radio plays and cinema. There is also a garden café, a farm shop, a stable bistro, a flea-market barn and market days. Rooms are available for seminars and workshops.

The combination of stage and cinema programs, a workshop, a market and food and drink gives the cultural venue a broad profile. Those interested in culture in Alt Krenzlin will find a range of subjects here in one place, rather than just a single type of event. The offerings described range from original formats such as live radio plays to rooms for seminars and workshops.

Trails and Rest Stops in Klein Krams Ausbau

Different routes pass through Klein Krams Ausbau. A designated bridle path runs from the stud farm in Neustadt Dosse to Redefin and passes directly by the weather shelter. The cycle path between Göhlen and Leussow is separate: it gives cyclists the option of taking a detour into Klein Krams Ausbau. The information therefore describes two different ways of finding your way around—a riding route with named starting and end points, and a cycle route from which a detour is possible.

The weather shelter offers a direct view of the Ludwigslust Canal and the biotope around the fish ladder. It may serve as a stopping point for walkers and cyclists from the surrounding villages and municipalities, as well as guests on farm holidays. This links the rest stop with a specific view of the canal and biotope. Take care not to confuse the routes mentioned: the bridle path passes by the shelter, while the cycle path between Göhlen and Leussow offers the option of a detour into the area.

There is also a place to rest and linger at the bus turning loop in Alt Krenzlin. It was inaugurated on March 7, 2024, and has a bench and three newly planted trees. Play equipment is also available; one section is fenced off for safety reasons. The resting area and play area are therefore part of a site whose individual sections have been designed differently.

Festivals and Community Events

Since 1982, a village festival for all parts of the municipality has traditionally been held in the potato barn of Agrarproduktion Alt Krenzlin e.G. in Krenzliner Hütte. Another recurring event is the Children’s Day party, organized every year by the villages and municipalities of Alt Krenzlin, Glaisin, Göhlen and Leussow. The 2026 event in Klein Krams on June 7 included archery and activities with the fire department, among other things.

Other dated examples show the variety of local events: the municipality’s Oktoberfest was held for the third year in a row at the village community center in Loosen on September 13, 2025. On April 30, 2026, a decorated Maypole was traditionally put up again in Alt Krenzlin, as it had been the previous year. If you want to plan your trip around a festival, check the exact date in advance.
