Tramm lies on the edge of the “Lewitz” large landscape and nature conservation area. Views across the landscape, well-preserved farmhouses and the Bahlenhüschen Forest Barn offer visitors a range of things to explore. Nature and rural architecture sit alongside a distinctive barn with educational and event facilities.
Landscape and Village Character
From Molkerei-Berg, you can enjoy panoramic views across the Lewitz. The well-preserved farmhouses in Tramm offer a different impression of the village: they bear witness to the hard work of the Lewitz farmers. Large wooden geese, known as the “Trammer Gois”, also stand at the entrance to the village. The viewpoint, houses and distinctive figures each add their own character, without reducing the village to a single destination.
The History of the BahlenhĂĽschen Forest Barn
The BahlenhĂĽschen Forest Barn was built around 1770 as a storage barn. From 2000 to 2004, it was rebuilt to be almost an exact replica of the original. Its history therefore encompasses both its former function as a storage building and its subsequent restoration. Today, the barn is equipped for information, documentation and educational purposes, particularly for school classes taking part in practical environmental education and instruction. It can also be used for celebrations, lectures and exhibitions. Alongside its history, these different uses give the building its own cultural significance.
Hiking Trails and Cycling Tour
Several marked routes offer different experiences. The Alte Riesen II themed hiking trail starts at the Bahlenhüschen Forest Barn and leads through fields, forests and meadows. In autumn, you can hear stags roaring along this trail. A forest path leads from Göhren via the Krähenberge hills directly to the Forest Barn. There is also a cycling tour from Göhren via Bahlenhüschen and a section of the Waldlewitz to Tramm. When planning, check the starting and finishing point of each route: the themed hiking trail starts at the barn, the forest path leads to it, and the cycling tour goes to Tramm. Before setting out, check current trail conditions and markings.
Charcoal-Makers’ Festival and Swimming Area
At the Charcoal-Makers’ Festival at the Forest Barn, charcoal is produced from Lewitz beechwood using traditional methods every two years. If you are planning to attend the festival, check the specific dates in advance. There is a swimming area at Lake Settiner See. As seasonal access may vary, we recommend checking current access arrangements if you are planning a swim there.
You can explore Tramm according to your interests: the panoramic views and trails draw your attention to the landscape, while the farmhouses and Forest Barn offer further links to local architectural and cultural history. The hiking trails and cycling tour also differ in their mode of travel and route. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for a stay in Tramm, you can take these interests into account when choosing your destination.
