Tossens offers several clearly distinct options for a stay: mudflat walks in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Friesenstrand beach with its baby beach, spa trails in the region, and a listed place of worship in the town. There is also a spa resort profile and named water attractions. When choosing your destination, you can first decide whether nature, the beach, culture, walks or a spa stay is your main focus.
Mudflat walks and excursions
The Familie von ThĂĽlen mudflat walks offer year-round guided walks in the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site off Tossens. The program also includes excursions to the Tossens Lower Lighthouse. This gives you two different destinations within the same theme: a mudflat walk and an excursion to the Lower Lighthouse. This distinction may be important for planning if you want to focus on the Wadden Sea itself or include the named excursion destination. The year-round program is also a specific point to consider when choosing your travel dates.
Friesenstrand beach and baby beach
Germany’s first baby beach is located right on Friesenstrand Tossens. The baby beach has glass enclosures, sun sails and warm-water showers. Friesenstrand also has a 25-metre-long zip line. This means you can choose between a clearly designated beach area with specific amenities and another attraction on the same beach. If you make beach activities your focus, you can consider the baby beach’s features and the zip line as separate options.
Walks and regional spa trails
The Pütten Tossens lake landscape is ideal for a walk. Two spa trails with clearly specified endpoints and distances also run through the region around Tossens. The Meeresspuren spa trail runs for 7.1 kilometres from Tossens to Eckwarderhörne; the Nordsee und Salzwiesen spa trail is 12.3 kilometres long and runs from Burhave to Tossens. The routes therefore differ both in length and in their endpoints. The longer route is 5.2 kilometres longer than the shorter one. This gives you a specific comparison when choosing between two regional trails and factoring distance and destination into your plans.
Church and architectural history
St. Bartholomäus Church is a listed Protestant place of worship in Tossens. The freestanding brick building was constructed in the 13th century. Its design, material and date of construction give the building a specific architectural and historical context. If you are interested in historic architecture as well as the coast and nature, you’ll find a clearly defined cultural attraction here that differs from the beach and water activities.
Water attractions and spa resort profile
At Center Parcs Park NordseekĂĽste, Aqua Mundo offers water slides, the Crazy River and a wave pool. This is a different kind of water experience from mudflat walks and Friesenstrand: here, the focus is on named water attractions; there, it is on mudflats and the beach. Tossens is also a state-recognised North Sea spa resort. Outpatient preventive spa treatments and rehabilitation programs with a focus on thalassotherapy are available there. This means that, in addition to beach- and nature-related activities, Tossens also has a distinctly spa-focused side. When choosing your destination, you can distinguish between these interests and decide which is most important for your stay.
