Farven can be explored through two distinctive features of the town: the Pella congregation’s church shapes the townscape, while the play and water park includes a pond with a sandy beach, a stream and a large lawn. This offers two specific focal points for planning: the townscape and its historic building, or the park’s various features.

Townscape and Park in Farven

The Pella congregation’s church was built in 1910. Its year of construction gives the townscape a clear historical reference point and offers a starting point for exploring Farven’s cultural history. Together with its role as a defining feature of the town, this makes the church an important part of the local character.

The play and water park offers a different focus. The pond has a sandy beach, and there is also a stream and a large lawn. The pond and stream bring different water features to the park, while the lawn is another distinct element. Admission is free, and donations are welcome. As admission information can change, it is advisable to check it again before travelling.

More things to do in the wider Rotenburg destination

In the wider regional area near Selsingen, small information panels along the SteinErlebnisRoute 3 tell cyclists about historical and cultural objects along the route. This combines cycling with an insight into the region’s history and culture. In the wider Rotenburg destination, the 24 NORDPFADE trails also provide guidance for circular walks, ranging from 5 to 32 kilometres. The NORDPFAD Ostetal trail passes through an unspoilt river landscape with dense floodplain forests, wet meadows, reed beds and steep banks. The range of trail lengths gives an indication of the scope of the circular walks, while the Ostetal and its landscape features offer a distinct nature-focused theme.

The WĂĽmme Cycle Route is also part of the wider Rotenburg destination. It is a circular route of around 250 kilometres that follows the WĂĽmme more or less closely. The northern route is listed as around 125 kilometres, and the southern route as around 135 kilometres. Connecting routes divide the trails into attractive individual sections that are also suitable for day trips and families. This means that, alongside the full circular route, the two named routes and individual sections offer different options for planning. The cycle route lies in the triangle between the metropolitan areas of Bremen, Hamburg and Hanover, between the LĂĽneburg Heath and the Weser.

For nature enthusiasts, Tister Bauernmoor and Ekelmoor together form a 1,220-hectare nature reserve complex in the wider Rotenburg destination. The Moorbahn Burgsittensen offers another way to experience Tister Bauernmoor: it travels at 6 km/h through typical raised bog scenery with pools, grasses, heather plants and birch trees. LandPark LauenbrĂĽck is home to 200 wild and domestic animals in spacious enclosures and large barns.

Cultural attractions add to these regional themes. The Bachmann Museum in Bremervörde is housed in the city’s oldest building, the last surviving structure of Bremervörde Castle. The exhibition is currently closed for renovation work; if you are planning a visit later, check the latest information. The Lager Sandbostel Memorial offers young people a range of educational activities focused on commemoration, remembrance and learning at the historic site.

For canoe trips on the Oste, there is a launch point in Sandbostel in the wider Rotenburg destination. The Oste is navigable only when water levels are sufficient; check the water level before your trip. This is an important planning requirement for this activity and distinguishes it from the cycling and walking routes described above.
