Those looking beyond Mardorf to the wider destination of Neustadt am RĂĽbenberge will find other cultural attractions there. Schloss Landestrost was built between 1573 and 1584 as a grand Renaissance residence. Its rooms regularly host exhibitions, theater performances, concerts and readings.
The Liebfrauenkirche in Neustadt am Rübenberge was first mentioned in written records in 1247, initially built as a three-aisled Romanesque basilica and remodeled in the Gothic style in 1502. It lies on a branch route of the Loccum–Volkenroda Pilgrimage Trail. From April 1 to October 31, the church is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; check the hours before your visit.
At the Hufschmiedemuseum Helstorf, blacksmiths demonstrate their craft on the third Sunday of each month from April to October, and visitors can also try their hand at it.
