For planning your trip, it is helpful to know how the places are situated: Kolpin is a district of the municipality of Reichenwalde, while Dahmsdorf is nearby. This makes it easy to distinguish destinations within the municipality from places of interest in the surrounding area.

Church architecture in Reichenwalde and Dahmsdorf

The church in Reichenwalde is built of fieldstone and has a square defensive tower. The Church of St. Thomas in Dahmsdorf provides a distinct architectural contrast: it is a fieldstone building dating from the 13th and 14th centuries and is one of the oldest houses of worship in Brandenburg.

Inside the church in Dahmsdorf, you can see three narrow lancet windows; the interior is simply designed and roughly plastered. During its restoration, the original tower was demolished and replaced with a half-timbered roof turret that remains to this day.

Both churches share their fieldstone construction, but differ in other features. In Reichenwalde, the square defensive tower stands out; in Dahmsdorf, there are also the lancet windows, the simple interior and the roof turret. Together, they offer two distinct architectural perspectives.

Dunes, a lake and activities nearby

A striking dune ridge in the area around Reichenwalde runs northwest from Dahmsdorf to the Waltersberge hills near Storkow. West of the Church of St. Thomas in Dahmsdorf is a six-metre-high dune; at Waltersberge, there is an open dune almost 33 metres high. Comparing their heights highlights the difference between the two locations: around 27 metres.

Another landscape highlight is the bathing area on Lake Storkow: it lies below Dahmsdorf on a wooded slope and offers a view of Hubertushöhe. If you plan to visit during your stay, check access in advance.

In Kolpin, a district of the municipality of Reichenwalde, you can go hiking around the Kleiner and GroĂźer Kolpiner See lakes. Another leisure option is a soccer golf course, which is considered a small local attraction. The two lakes provide specific hiking destinations, while soccer golf offers a different kind of recreational activity.
