At Lake Tachinger See, you can plan your stay around swimming, routes or churches. Each offers a distinct focus: a shallow sandy beach and playground, a cycling loop that can be shortened, and the Late Gothic St. Peter’s Church. This makes it easy to plan your day according to whether you prefer time by the water, exercise or culture.

Swimming at Lake Tachinger See

Taching Lido is located in the expansive protected landscape surrounding Lake Tachinger See. The bathing area in Taching am See has a shallow sandy beach and is especially suitable for children. The lake is 19 metres deep and is one of the warmest lakes in Upper Bavaria.

The playground at Taching Lido is right next to Lake Tachinger See. Its facilities include swings, a seesaw, a climbing tower in the sandpit and a merry-go-round. If you’re planning time by the water with children, you’ll find specific play opportunities alongside the shallow sandy beach.

Routes and landscape

A cycling loop around Lake Tachinger See can be shortened to around 7 kilometres via the lake bridge at Tettenhausen. This approximate distance refers to the shortened loop. It provides a useful point of reference when planning to include a shorter option in your cycling tour.

Route 1 of the St Rupert Pilgrimage Trail leads from Taching to Tettenhausen, around Lake Tachinger See and onwards to Tengling. The Chapel Loop offers views of Lakes Tachinger See and Waginger See, as well as the Alps. The routes offer different highlights: a cycling loop that can be shortened, a pilgrimage trail with a specified route, and a circular walk with views of the lakes and the Alps.

The landscape itself also has a clear geological history: Lake Tachinger See formed in one of the basins left behind. The lakes are framed by a hilly landscape shaped by glaciers. These geological features complement the options for days of swimming and excursions.

Church and culture

The Catholic Church of St Peter in Taching is a single-nave Late Gothic tuff-stone building dating from the second half of the 15th century. Its architecture, materials and period offer a specific point of interest for anyone interested in cultural history.

A Sunday service is generally held at St Paul’s Church in Taching every Sunday at 10 am. If you would like to time your visit around the service, check the date before travelling.

Accommodation and travel

The municipal campsite is right on the shore of Lake Tachinger See, in the heart of the peaceful protected landscape. It offers pitches for short- and long-term guests, as well as spaces for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Camping is therefore a specific accommodation option for travellers using these types of accommodation.

The municipality of Taching am See lists Tittmoning-Wiesmühl, Fridolfing, Kirchanschöring and Kirchweihdach as the nearest railway stations. Check current connections before travelling.
