The trails along the Alz, views from the Schlossberg trails and the heated outdoor pool give a stay in Trostberg a range of different options. You can focus on a walk by the water, a route through fields and forests, or a swim. When choosing what to do, it helps to consider whether you’re looking for a varied route, a viewpoint or a break by the river.

Routes through fields, forest and scenic viewpoints

The Oberfeldkirchner loop passes through wide-open fields and quiet forests on its way to Trostberg. At the destination, you can enjoy views over the small town and as far as the Alps. The route combines open countryside and forest sections with views of the town and mountains.

The Schlossberg trails serve a different purpose: they are the shortest connection between Trostberg’s old town and the hospital. From one of the highest points in the town, views open up in good weather over Trostberg, towards Baumburg Abbey in neighbouring Altenmarkt, and as far as the Berchtesgaden and Chiemgau Alps.

The two options therefore differ in their route and destination: the Oberfeldkirchner loop leads through fields and forest to Trostberg, while the Schlossberg trails combine a connection between the old town and the hospital with a viewpoint. Views from there depend on good weather.

The Alz, gravel banks and outdoor pool

Shady trails along the Alz in Trostberg invite you to take a walk. Gravel banks offer another way to spend time by the river: you can relax on the banks or cool off in the river. Along the Alz, you can choose between getting active on the trails and taking a break by the water.

For swimming, Trostberg has a heated outdoor pool with a 50-metre competition pool and a 220-metre outdoor swimming channel. These two details give a clear picture of the pool’s facilities. Check its current opening hours and seasonal availability before visiting.

More ways to enjoy the outdoors

Picnics are possible in the rose garden. Seating is available, or you can bring your own blanket. This offers a different kind of break from relaxing by the river, with a designated place to sit in the garden.

The skate park is on Jahnstraße, opposite the P9 Festplatz/Sportzentrum car park. This location description helps you find your way around town. If you’d like to plan a range of activities during your stay, you can make the skate park a stop of its own alongside walks, time by the river or a visit to the outdoor pool.

In the area around Trostberg, several kilometres of cross-country ski trails are groomed in winter, weather permitting. The trails are therefore in the wider area around the destination; specific routes are not given here. If cross-country skiing is important to your plans, check in advance whether conditions allow the trails to be groomed.
