At Samerberg, nature experiences go hand in hand with scenic cycling and hiking trails, as well as a number of cultural attractions. The Samerberger Filze, the observation chapel in Obereck and the Dandlberg-Alm each offer something different. When planning your stay, you can first consider whether you would like to focus on nature, a longer excursion or the view from a single destination.

The Samerberger Filze: Nature and Water

The Samerberger Filze is a wetland crossed by the Filzen nature trail. The trail draws attention to some rare animal and plant species. A natural foot-wading facility lies in the Achen stream, and there is also an educational apiary in the Filze. The area’s different features offer several nature-related themes to explore individually when planning a visit.

In summer, locals and visitors swim in the unspoiled waters of the Samerberger Filze natural swimming area. It is set in a natural landscape, far from traffic noise. Swimming is seasonal, so if you plan to include it, keep the summer season in mind.

Cycling Tours and Hiking Trails

Samerberg offers scenic cycling tours for all ages and with varying levels of difficulty, with or without electric assistance. You can plan your cycling accordingly, based on the level of challenge that suits you and whether you want to use electric assistance.

The Samerberger Vierkirchen-Weg is a cultural and historical excursion that runs through Grainbach, Törwang and Steinkirchen to Rossholzen. The route follows easy trails, covers 200 metres of elevation gain and takes four to five hours. Its duration and elevation gain provide a practical framework for planning your day.

The circular trail around Dandlberg starts at the car park in Dorfen near Steinkirchen, passes the church and continues to Wiesholz, then follows DandlbergstraĂźe to the scenic Dandlberg-Alm. While the Vierkirchen-Weg focuses on a cultural and historical excursion with a stated duration, the route to the Alm is the main point of reference on Dandlberg. The two hiking destinations can therefore be considered according to different interests.

Views and History in Obereck

The observation chapel in Obereck on Samerberg was built in the mid-19th century. Visitors can enjoy the view from there and, at times, impressive sunsets. The period in which it was built gives the visit a historical context, while the views and occasional sunsets offer another perspective on the place. If you are planning to visit specifically for a sunset, some flexibility in your plans is advisable.

Hiking Bus and Day Planning

Hiking bus route 493 runs in the morning to popular hiking car parks on Samerberg and brings visitors back in the afternoon. Check the current timetable before travelling.

From early May to the end of October, a hiking bus runs on Sundays and public holidays from the Mangfall Valley via Rosenheim to Samerberg. It serves popular hiking car parks there and lets you start your hike without a car. You should also check the latest timetable details before travelling on this route.
