Glassmaking, hiking trails and swimming offer different ways to enjoy your stay in Arnbruck. Weinfurtner Glass Village is located in the heart of the town, where visitors can learn about the finishing and production of glass. Other attractions include a nature trail starting at the tourist information office and year-round swimming at the Panoramabad.

Glass in town, activities nearby

At Weinfurtner Glass Village, visitors can learn how glass is made and finished. This is a cultural highlight in the heart of Arnbruck. The nearby Glass Garden is also worth a visit: it is located on the road leading north from Arnbruck towards Thalersdorf and offers children a large playground with a petting zoo. Choose between two different attractions: glassmaking in the heart of Arnbruck, or a playground and petting zoo at the nearby Glass Garden.

Trails and timing

The nature trail starts at the Bavarian Forest Nature Park information pavilion by the tourist information office in Arnbruck and takes about two and a half hours. A more challenging climb from Arnbruck via route Ab8 takes about two hours. For planning your time, the nature trail is the longer of the two options.

A section of the Goldsteig quality hiking trail runs along the municipalities of Arnbruck and Drachselsried in the Zellertal valley. On the Four Seasons Trail, follow the red Ab53 markings; an accompanying brochure is available from the Arnbruck tourist information office. As trail markings may be updated over time, it is a good idea to follow the current signs before setting out.

Swimming, winter sports and flights

Swimming is available year-round at the Panoramabad Arnbruck. Opening hours may change, so check the current swimming times before your visit. The Eck-Riedelstein ski area is four kilometres from Arnbruck and offers runs of all difficulty levels as well as a modern snowmaking system. Facilities and seasonal operations may change, so check the latest conditions before making plans.

Scenic flights are offered at Arnbruck airfield in four-seat sport aircraft, two-seat motor gliders, ultralight aircraft and gliders. If you are planning a flight, check availability in advance.

Finding accommodation and getting around

Visitors staying in Arnbruck who have a guest card bearing the GUTi logo can use all local bus and train services free of charge and without limit during their stay. Check the card’s specific terms of validity before travelling.

More to explore in the Regen destination

The wider Regen destination offers even more to discover. Regular public tours introduce the beer and ice cellars in Regen, known as the historic “Regener Unterwelt” (Regen Underworld), and explain their history. There are also 13 terrain trails in and around the town of Regen. The Grubhügel cross-country ski trail in Regen can be used for both skating and classic diagonal technique, and skates and equipment can be rented on site at the Regen ice sports centre.

Nature and landscapes are also part of the Regen destination. The quartz rocks near the WeiĂźenstein castle ruins were placed under nature protection in 1940 because of their geological significance. The Pfahl near WeiĂźenstein is an important habitat for rare animal and plant species that thrive in warm, dry conditions and are adapted to nutrient-poor environments. Those interested in a hike can also try the beer experience trail, which is about five kilometres long, with almost half of the route running right alongside the Regen River.

Discover more destinations: Drachselsried, Rinchnach, Kollnburg, Kirchdorf Im Wald, Bodenmais, Patersdorf, Zwiesel, Böbrach.
