Zirndorf offers a variety of highlights: large-scale themed play worlds at PLAYMOBIL-FunPark, historic sites, and nature with opportunities for activity. You can plan your stay around whether you’re primarily looking for playful themed worlds, local history, or outdoor activities.

PLAYMOBIL-FunPark: Themed Play Worlds and HOB Center

PLAYMOBIL-FunPark in Zirndorf covers 90,000 m². In the oversized PLAYMOBIL play worlds, visitors can play at being pirates, dinosaur explorers, knights, ladies of the castle, or princesses, among other roles. The different roles give the themed worlds their distinctive character and offer a variety of starting points for play.

The park also includes the 5,000 m², glass-enclosed HOB Center. It features life-size PLAYMOBIL settings, extensive play areas, a show stage, an entertainment restaurant, and a coffee bar. The area figures indicate two different scales: the park covers 90,000 m², and the HOB Center 5,000 m². This gives you a sense of both the overall attraction and the center itself.

The park is almost entirely accessible. All paths can be used with a wheelchair or stroller; elevators or ramps are available wherever needed. As specific accessibility arrangements may change, it’s best to check the current situation before your visit.

You can also gauge the walk to the park from two different starting points: from Zirndorf’s town center, it takes about 45 minutes to reach the FunPark. From Zirndorf station, a well-signposted path runs along the Bibert. As signage may change, check the directions on site if needed.

Historic Zirndorf

St. Rochus Parish Church shapes the character of the historic town center. Right next door, the historic brewery site forms a particularly noteworthy ensemble. Koppenplatz is one of Zirndorf’s oldest squares; its fountain is decorated with Zirndorf toys.

Zirndorf’s horseshoe and wagon forge is also among the town’s oldest buildings. It was first mentioned in 1306 and closed in 1974. Alongside the church and brewery site, the square and forge offer further historic details that make Zirndorf a destination beyond its themed play worlds.

Alte Veste: Views and History

The tower at Alte Veste offers views over Zirndorf, Nuremberg, Fürth, and the surrounding area. It was rebuilt in 1980 and features an observation platform and a Viscope that projects Wallenstein’s camp onto the landscape.

The history of Alte Veste goes back to the Thirty Years’ War: in 1632, it was at the center of events and served as the main stronghold of Wallenstein’s camp against King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. The site thus combines a viewpoint with a specific historical connection, without implying that the tower itself was the stronghold at the time.

Kneipp Avenue: Oak Trees and Outdoor Activities

Kneipp Avenue in Zirndorf offers a different kind of experience. It has a protected oak grove about 130 years old, designated as a natural monument. The avenue is ideal for walking, Nordic walking, jogging, cycling, and playing. Alongside the themed play worlds and historic sites, outdoor activities and a protected natural area are therefore also options to consider.

This offers a clear comparison to help plan your stay: PLAYMOBIL-FunPark focuses on themed play worlds, Alte Veste combines history with views, and Kneipp Avenue offers a range of activities amid the oak trees. Which option best suits your trip depends on which of these highlights you want to focus on in Zirndorf.
