Parsberg brings together two distinct ways to explore: collections of cultural history and trails through the Jura landscape. The Castle Museum focuses on the lives of people in the Neumarkt–Parsberg–Regensburg region through the centuries; outdoors, trails lead through a landscape of rocks, small streams and green hills. You can tailor your stay to your interests—culture, hiking, cycling, swimming or, when winter conditions are suitable, cross-country skiing.

Culture: Two Distinct Collections

Parsberg Castle Museum presents three museum-education themes across approximately 1,200 square metres. Its focus is the lives of people in the Neumarkt–Parsberg–Regensburg region through the centuries. The museum’s audio guide features 43 stops, each about two minutes long, and divides the audio content into short sections.

The Parsberg Scout Museum takes a different thematic approach. Across around 100 square metres and five rooms, it displays equipment, tents, books, badges and historical photographs spanning more than 65 years of scouting history. Compared with the Castle Museum’s broad historical scope, this museum focuses on scouting history and the objects associated with it. When choosing cultural attractions, you can therefore choose between regional history spanning the centuries and a specialised collection.

Hiking Between the Jura Landscape and Castles

The hiking trails can be distinguished by their focus on the landscape or on castles. The Malerweg and G'schichtenweg pass through an idyllic Jura landscape of rocks, small streams and green hills. For specific castle destinations, there are two other options: the Castle Trail connects Parsberg Castle with Lupburg Castle and includes a section through the Laber Valley. The signposted Parsberg–Lupburg Castle Trail Loop leads to Parsberg and Lupburg; along the route, hikers visit two surviving castles.

In the hiking area around Parsberg and Lupburg, the Labertal Trail offers mill-side charm and rugged limestone reefs. The different routes therefore offer different highlights: the Jura landscape with its rocks, streams and hills; a connection between two castles; or the mills and limestone landscape of the Laber Valley.

Cycling, Winter and Water

Cyclists in Parsberg can consider the Jura Corso and the Bet-Staffel. The Bet-Staffel is a scenic route from chapel to chapel and is also listed as an option for cyclists. This gives cyclists a different point of reference from the hiking trails: chapels define the route of the Bet-Staffel, while the Jura Corso is another cycling option.

During the winter season, Parsberg has many kilometres of marked cross-country ski trails. Whether they can be used depends on winter conditions. If you plan to go cross-country skiing, check conditions before your visit.

The JURA MARE wave outdoor pool complements the trails and museums with a place to swim. This modern, accessible facility offers fun for the whole family, with spacious pools, exciting waves and relaxing sunbathing lawns. So in addition to culture, hiking and cycling, a day at the pool is another option for your stay in Parsberg.
