Hausham lies between Lake Tegernsee and Lake Schliersee and is a starting point for activities in the Tegernsee-Schliersee Alpine Region. The local options range from nature and mountain forests to winter sports and mining history, as well as music, events and culinary delights. This allows you to shape your stay around a variety of interests.

Between Mountain Forest and Cross-Country Ski Trail

The nature discovery trail at Huberspitz lets you explore local nature and mountain forest in Hausham. Visitors, especially school groups, can use discovery and scavenger hunt worksheets. Allow two to three hours for the nature experience; the elevation gain is around 300 metres. The trail is not accessible to people with disabilities. The duration, elevation gain and this limitation can help you assess whether the trail fits your plans.

In winter, the approximately six-kilometre cross-country ski trail in Hausham adds to the range of activities. It runs from the central sports facility past the cemetery and the Agatharied fire station to the Haslrain access road. The route is suitable for both skating and classic technique, and is rated easy to moderate. The nature trail and ski trail offer different experiences: the nature trail focuses on exploring nature and using scavenger hunt worksheets, while the ski trail offers a choice of two skiing styles.

The cross-country ski trail between Hausham and Agatharied has four access points. One is at the sports facility or Regenbogen kindergarten in Hausham. As seasonal grooming conditions may vary, it is advisable to check the current conditions before your planned visit.

Music, Mining History and Events

The Koulen organ at St. Anton dates from 1911 and has 32 stops. Church concerts have been held there regularly since November 2013. If music is important to your trip, check the concert dates in advance.

The Hausham Mining Museum displays mining tools, mine maps, fossil and mineral collections, pictures, miners’ lamps, numerous detailed models, and an original depiction of a mining site. The collection illustrates the community of Hausham’s former mining era. If you plan to visit the museum, check the current visitor information in advance.

The Art and Culture House hosts changing exhibitions. The family-friendly folk festival and the Christmas market around St. Anton parish church are regular fixtures in the annual events calendar. If you would like to attend one of the festivals, keep the specific dates in mind when planning your trip.

Herbal Knowledge and Fine Distillates

Claudia Bernhardt regularly offers herb walks at the Moosrainer pasture. Participants learn about local trees and how local wild herbs can be used for food and enjoyment, cosmetics and other purposes. Plant knowledge and the many ways plants can be used are the focus.

The LANTENHAMMER Experience Distillery in Hausham offers an interactive, multimedia, self-guided experience tour exploring the world of fine distillates. The self-guided tour includes a film and a tasting. The two culinary experiences take different forms: one centres on a multimedia tour, while the other is a regular walk focused on plant knowledge.
