A 900-metre cycle path connection, sacred buildings from different construction periods and a local history museum give Scheuring several concrete points of interest for planning a trip. Local topics range from late Gothic architecture and a chapel with carved figures of Christ on the Mount of Olives to everyday culture. Nearby Haltenberg Castle ruins add a distinct historical highlight, with guided tours.

Churches and Local History
St. Martin’s Parish Church is in the southern part of Scheuring. It has a late Gothic core and a saddle-roofed tower. The church burned down during the Thirty Years’ War; its nave was rebuilt in 1663.
The Seelenkapelle (Chapel of Souls) stands directly south of the parish church. It was built in 1618 and renovated in 1720. Inside are a tomb chamber and carved figures of Christ on the Mount of Olives. The figures depict Christ, the sleeping disciples and the angel.
In the northern part of Scheuring, the branch church of St. John the Evangelist stands on a hill. It is a sacred building dating from the Gothic period; its tower has seven storeys and a tall pointed spire. The churches differ architecturally: St. Martin has a late Gothic core and a saddle-roofed tower, while St. John the Evangelist is distinguished by its seven-storey tower with a pointed spire.
Scheuring’s local history museum opened in October 1996 in the attic of the new town hall. It covers local history, illustrated by house chronicles and maps, as well as everyday culture. It therefore complements the focus on church architecture with the history of the village and daily life. If you plan to visit the museum, check its opening hours in advance.
The Lourdes grotto in the municipality of Scheuring offers another peaceful place to pause. You can linger there and listen to the gentle dripping of the water.
