You can plan a visit to Traubing around its regular weekly market, traces of the past and several tours of different lengths. The weekly market takes place every Saturday throughout the year; archaeological findings from the late Middle Ages and early modern period have been discovered at the Catholic parish church of St. Mariä Geburt. The tours described range from 10.5 to 23.4 kilometres. When choosing accommodation, you can first consider whether a market visit, local history or a particular route should shape your stay.

Weekly Market and Local History

The Traubing weekly market takes place throughout the year on Saturdays in the forecourt of the property at Weilheimer StraĂźe 8. The location is on parcels 92 and 92/1 in the Traubing cadastral district. This gives you a specific place and a regular day of the week to plan around.

Traubing was first mentioned in 1005 as “Trupinga” in a document from Benediktbeuern. Another historical perspective is offered by the underground findings from the late medieval and early modern periods in the area of the Catholic parish church of St. Mariä Geburt and its predecessor building. The document links the place name to an early written mention; the findings point to archaeological traces in the area of the church and its predecessor building.

The Traubing brass band also makes an important contribution to the cultural life of the village. Alongside its historical connections, Traubing’s local cultural life and its institutions are therefore also part of its character.

Tours with Different Profiles

The routes differ in length, course and stated duration. Route 34 is explicitly a cycling tour; the other two are described as a circular tour and a landscape tour, respectively.

  • Route 34, “Into the Tutzing Hinterland,” is an easy 23.4-kilometre circular cycling tour. It heads south from Aschering and continues to Traubing. At Ilkahöhe, it offers a beautiful view over Lake Starnberg, the entire StarnbergAmmersee region and the Alps in the background.
  • Route 06, “Over the Heights of Traubing,” is a very easy circular tour covering 10.5 kilometres, with a stated duration of 2 hours 10 minutes. It leads from Feldafing via Aschering and the Höhenweg to Traubing, then back to the starting point in Feldafing.
  • Route X8 is a 10.8-kilometre landscape tour with a stated duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. It runs from Traubinger StraĂźe via Traubing and Aschering to Lake Maisinger.

At 10.5 and 10.8 kilometres, Routes 06 and X8 are almost the same length, but their stated durations differ by 20 minutes. Route 34 is more than twice as long as the two shorter routes and adds the described view from Ilkahöhe. This makes it easy to compare the options by length and route.
