Pressig offers a range of options for a stay: circular hiking trails through Pressig and its districts, the Rothenkirchen nature swimming pool, and historic destinations in Posseck and towards Friedersdorf. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can first consider whether hiking, time by the water, or local history should shape your stay. The trails have their own routes and starting points; the swimming pool and historic destinations offer different focal points.

Circular Routes and Starting Points in Pressig

The Pressiger Berg-Weg R 61 is a circular hiking trail through Pressig and the districts of Rothenkirchen and Friedersdorf. Along the way, it offers views of the Haßlachtal valley. The Rauher Berg-Weg R 68 also passes through Pressig, Rothenkirchen, and Friedersdorf as it loops around Pressiger Berg. If you would like to include views of the Haßlachtal valley in your choice, you will find them on the R 61; the R 68 passes through the same places on its loop.

The FrankenwaldSteigla Pfaffenbergweg starts at the Rothenkirchen sports field. The Kreuze-Weg R 65 is a circular hiking trail that starts at the car park of the natural outdoor swimming pool on the outskirts of Rothenkirchen. These two named starting points already distinguish the trails when planning: the Pfaffenbergweg starts at the sports field, while the R 65 starts at the swimming pool car park. About 50 m up the road stands the Hermeskreuz, a metal-cut cross belonging to the Suffa family, flanked by two hawthorn trees.

Towards Friedersdorf, a detour of about 300 m leads to a sandstone wayside shrine. Its shaft is corkscrew-shaped and decorated with grapevines. The inscription on the plinth names Johann Baderschneider, a citizen of Friedersdorf, and the year 1757. The monument adds a distinct historical note alongside the circular routes and their views.

Nature Swimming Pool and Leisure Activities in Rothenkirchen

The Rothenkirchen nature swimming pool has a swimming pool with a shallow-water area and entry steps. It also has a sun terrace, a jumping rock, a mud-play area, a baby pool, a play stream, a playground, and a large sunbathing lawn. Opening hours are seasonal, so check them before your visit. This makes the swimming pool an option to plan as a separate focus alongside hikes and historic destinations.

The Landleitenbachtal valley in the district of Rothenkirchen has cycling and hiking trails, tennis courts, a youth campsite, and the nature adventure swimming pool. The valley therefore offers several different leisure activities. If you are planning to visit specific facilities, check that they are currently open before travelling.

Local History in Posseck

Posseck is one of the oldest places in the Pressig municipality. Its first documented mention dates back to 1180. The village is also home to a Gothic fortified church with Baroque altars. The early mention and the church with its Baroque furnishings offer two different points of reference for understanding Posseck’s history.
