Jandelsbrunn can be explored along its trails and waterways, through golf and history. A signposted hiking trail leads from the town hall to the beaver discovery trail at Steinerfurth, while two cycle routes connect the town with other destinations. There is also a recreational lake near the town and the pilgrimage church on Wollaberg. When planning your trip, you can start by considering whether you want your days to focus on outdoor activities, water or culture.

Cycle Routes and Hiking

A signposted 3.8-kilometre hiking trail leads from the town hall in Jandelsbrunn to the beaver discovery trail at Steinerfurth. The estimated walking time is about 1 hour and 10 minutes. The hike is defined by its distance and duration; the cycle routes, meanwhile, are best identified by their routes and connections.

The Adalbert Stifter Cycle Path runs from Röhrnbach via Waldkirchen, Jandelsbrunn and Neureichenau to Haidmühle, where it connects with the Danube-Ilz Cycle Path. Another named connection is the Danube-Moldau Cycle Path: from Jandelsbrunn, you can follow it south towards Obernzell. The two routes can be distinguished by the places and directions given for each.

Recreational Lake and Golf Course

The recreational lake is near the town and has parking, changing rooms and sanitary facilities. It also has a children's playground and a beach volleyball court. There is no lifeguard supervision at the lake. In winter, ice stock sport is possible when the ice is thick enough. The facilities and seasonal activity offer different ways to plan a visit to the water.

The Poppenreut 18-hole championship course, designed by Keith Preston, is in the municipality of Jandelsbrunn and offers a sporting challenge for beginners and experienced players alike. The golf course has a driving range with covered teeing areas, a putting green and a practice bunker. Those who include golf in their trip will find both a championship course and dedicated practice facilities here.

Pilgrimage Church on Wollaberg

The pilgrimage church on Wollaberg is another tangible link to the town's history. It was built in the 13th century. Over time, it burned down, was rebuilt and renovated. Its history brings together a medieval origin and later changes to the building.

In the Wider Freyung-Grafenau Destination

As a broader regional setting, Freyung-Grafenau offers further landscape and cultural attractions. The Bavarian Forest National Park extends into Freyung-Grafenau district and opened on 7 October 1970 as Germany's first national park. Under the 2024 zoning plan, 75.37 percent of its area is designated as natural zones.

One of the district's distinctive landscapes is the Buchberger Leite gorge between Freyung and Ringelai. An eight-kilometre themed hiking trail passes through the gorge, with information boards and an accompanying brochure. Steep rocky ridges constrict the Wolfsteiner Ohe, with its boulder-strewn bed and cascades, into a deeply incised channel; remnants of primeval forest remain in the gorge's moss- and fern-rich woodlands. Historic log-driving walls, tunnels hewn into the rock and open-air channels bear witness to centuries of human activity there.

The Schramlhaus in Freyung is also part of the region's cultural heritage. Built around 1700, it is now the oldest farmhouse in Freyung and, in terms of its original character, one of the oldest in Freyung-Grafenau district. It houses more than a hundred original examples of reverse glass painting, a form of sacred folk art. The Wolfstein Local History Museum is also located in the Schramlhaus.
