Mintraching combines a distinctive ecclesiastical heritage with a natural attraction in the surrounding area. The branch church of St. Margareth brings together historic altar figures, a PietĂ  and the Gothic Water Christ; the entrance to the Isaraue nature forest is also near Mintraching. These offer two different focal points for planning: religious art and tradition on the one hand, and trails through the river landscape on the other.

St. Margareth: Altar Figures and the Water Christ

The branch church of St. Margareth was consecrated in 1709. Figures of St. Margaret and St. Nicholas stand at the high altar; the church also contains a Pietà. The church’s name and the figure of St. Margaret refer to the same saint.

The Mintraching Water Christ is a particular highlight. This Gothic figure of the Man of Sorrows is linked to a local legend about flooding of the Isar and is carried along on annual pilgrimages to Altötting. St. Margareth thus brings together specific works of art and a religious tradition: the figure is both part of the church’s art and associated with a recurring pilgrimage tradition.

Trails through the Isaraue

Near Mintraching, the Isaraue nature forest can be accessed from the St 2053. The 9-kilometre Alte Seebachweg connects this access point with the Ismaning area; visitors can walk along it through a large part of the southern nature forest. The route’s length and its connection to the Ismaning area give it a clear framework.

The Isar Cycle Route offers another option. In this area, it follows the Isar through the Isaraue nature forest between Munich and Landshut, then continues north through the nature forest towards Moosburg. The two routes have different defining features: the Alte Seebachweg is specified as 9 kilometres long and connected to the Ismaning area, while the Isar Cycle Route follows the Isar and continues towards Moosburg.
