In Lalling, you can choose from circular trails of varying lengths and long-distance hiking trails. The nature discovery trail in Feng Shui Kurpark is a short, 1.2 km circular route via Jägerhölzl and Ahornweg; it ends at the Lalling Kneipp facility. Opened in 1985, the facility consists of a water-treading pool, an arm bath, several benches and a covered rest area. As access conditions may change, check them before your visit.

Hikes by Length and Season

The Frohnmühlenweg offers a different scale: this approximately 3 km circular hike starts in the center of Lalling, passes through Ranzing and Frohnmühle, and returns to Lalling. Rated very easy, it is suitable for winter hiking. Compared with the nature discovery trail, it is the longer route, with named intermediate locations and a return to Lalling.

The Steinbruchsteig adds another option: an approximately 7.5 km circular educational trail. From Lalling, it leads via Feng Shui Park and Euschertsfurth, passes a 600-year-old lime tree, and returns to Lalling. It is only partly suitable for walking in winter. By contrast, the Frohnmühlenweg is suitable for winter hiking. Both the Steinbruchsteig and the nature discovery trail pass close to the Kneipp facility, where you can combine hiking with Kneipp therapy.

For longer routes, it is also helpful to distinguish between a single stage of a long-distance trail and a pilgrimage route. The 16 km S 18 stage of the Goldsteig South Route is a quality long-distance hiking trail from Landshuter Haus to Lalling, via Rusel, Datting, Kapfing and Gerholling-Dösing. The approximately 88 km Gunthersteig is a pilgrimage route from Niederalteich to Dobrá Voda in the Czech Republic, via Lalling, Richnach, Lindberg, Spiegelhütte and Scheuereck. Both are long-distance trails: S 18 is a 16 km stage of the Goldsteig South Route and a quality long-distance hiking trail; the approximately 88 km Gunthersteig is a pilgrimage route that continues to the Czech Republic.

Culture in Lalling

One specific cultural highlight is St. Stephen’s Parish Church. It houses a Gothic Madonna known as the Turkish Madonna. This art-historical detail complements the selection of circular and long-distance hiking trails with a named example of religious art.
