The Marienkapelle on Hagenbergstraße, the Moos circular hiking trail and the cycling route to Gleißenberg offer three different ways to experience a stay in Döbersing: contemplation, exercise on foot and a route by bike. The published route lengths and itineraries provide helpful guidance for planning; the chapel adds a distinct religious dimension.
The Marienkapelle on the outskirts
The Marienkapelle stands on Hagenbergstraße, on the outskirts of Döbersing in the direction of Gschieß. It was built in 2010 with the involvement of the Döbersing village community and the “Tannengrün” Schützenverein, and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The chapel invites visitors to contemplation, prayer and quiet reflection. It offers a reason to visit in its own right, alongside the trails: anyone interested in religious sites can plan a moment of quiet reflection here.
Hiking: a circular route or a connection between villages
The We02, the Moos circular hiking trail, is a 5.7-kilometre hike with a stated duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. The loop starts at Dalking parish church, passes through Reisach and Döbersing, and returns to the church. Before entering the forest, the route offers a view towards Döbersing. Its length and stated duration help you gauge how much time to allow; the return to the starting point is part of the route as described.
The G7 Döbersinger Weg also passes through Döbersing and connects Gleißenberg, Ried, Gschieß and Rußmühle. These named places provide a point of reference for anyone considering the trail as part of a route through several villages. Near Reisach, the We02 also offers a detour to a lovingly decorated chapel at the foot of Schlängelberg.
Cycle to Gleißenberg
The Weiding-Gleißenberg cycle path is an easy, 9.9-kilometre route via Dalking and Döbersing to Gleißenberg. From Weiding Town Hall, the route passes through Zelz and by the Dalking sports ground to Döbersing. From there, it continues along a gravel farm track towards Rußmühle. This lets you relate the stated total distance to the specific route through Döbersing; the gravel section is useful to bear in mind when planning your route.
More trails in the wider Weiding destination
For additional hiking options in the wider Weiding destination, the We01, the Haidsteiner Weg, offers another route with a clearly stated distance. Starting at Weiding Town Hall, it is 7.8 kilometres long and passes through Neumühlen, Walting and Haid, through the Haidholz forest, and via Nickelhöhe, Kohlstatt and the Waltinger Weg to Haidstein at an elevation of 743 metres. At 7.8 kilometres, the We01 is longer than the 5.7-kilometre We02—a concrete comparison to help you decide how long a hike you want.
A landscape with a protected area
The October 2024 management plan lists SPA sub-area 6741-471.08, named “Östlich Döbersing” (East of Döbersing), with an area of 272.4 hectares. This figure describes the named sub-area. If you intend to visit a specific location within the protected area, check its designation and boundaries in advance. This helps you distinguish sensibly between planning a route and making a targeted visit to the area.
