The walk to Aufhofen Pond follows an approximately 100-metre-long footpath to the western shore. This section of the route gives your stroll a specific destination by the water. As trail conditions can change seasonally, check them before setting out.

Aufhofen Pond is listed in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen as a bathing spot other than an EU bathing site. If swimming is part of your plans, check its status again for the relevant season. Nature and trails in the Egling travel destination

The wider Egling travel destination has a particular focus on moorland and nature conservation. Eglinger Filz was designated a landscape conservation area in 1986 and additionally included as a Natura 2000 site under the Habitats Directive in 2003 because the rare dragonfly species Large White-faced Darter occurs there. Eglinger/Ascholdinger Filz covers approximately 200 hectares and is the largest continuous moorland complex in the northern district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. Plants found there include dwarf birch and sundew; breeding bird species include tree pipit, red-backed shrike and teal.

The trails in Egling also offer a variety of experiences. Hiking trails run through the Eglinger Filze–Mooshamer Weiher landscape conservation area, as well as through the Pupplinger Au nature reserve. Pupplinger Au is known for its rare flowers and plants. If you prefer cycling to walking, Egling has an extensive network of cycle routes. The regional cycle tour Puppling–Deining–Eulenschwang–Thanning–Egling–Ergertshausen–Puppling passes through Egling. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

Architectural history in Egling

Egling’s attractions include Celtic earthworks in the districts of Deining, Neufahrn and Endlhausen. Harmating Castle is a small hilltop castle; its core probably dates from the Middle Ages. This attribution is deliberately cautious: the core is believed to date from the Middle Ages.

The Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas in Egling reflects several building phases. It is a tuff-stone hall church with a recessed choir and a west tower; its core dates from around 1430. The church was given a Baroque makeover in the first half of the 18th century, and the tower was renewed in 1820/21. The Catholic pilgrimage church of St. Sebald is also a hall church with a recessed choir and dates from the second half of the 17th century. Another example of architectural history is AngermĂĽhle, a historic watermill from the second half of the 18th century. The examples in Egling therefore range from churches of different periods to the historic mill.
