In Notre-Dame-De-Bellecombe, activities range from easy circular trails and alpine panoramas to village history and seasonal farm visits. If you are planning a stay, you can start by matching the hiking distance you have in mind with the time of year you are travelling: two easy circular routes are joined by a moderate hike, while some cultural and farm experiences are tied to specific seasons.

Circular trails with varying levels of difficulty

Le FaĂż is an easy, 3.5-kilometre circular trail starting from Notre-Dame-De-Bellecombe. The route passes through the forest and opens up a panorama of the Aravis range. The route information was last updated in April 2024; check trail conditions before setting out. Le Reguet is also easy: this circular route starting from the village is 4.5 kilometres long. A short climb opens up a view of Notre-Dame-De-Bellecombe and its famous onion-shaped bell tower. Compared directly, Le FaĂż is the shorter of the two easy loops; the climb and the view of the village are notable features of Le Reguet.

Le Mont Rond takes more hiking time: the 6.2-kilometre loop starts in Notre-Dame-De-Bellecombe, is of moderate difficulty and takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes. It passes through alpine pastures and offers varied panoramas; Lac du GuĂŻ is an interesting point along the route. Mountain conditions can affect whether the hike is feasible, so take them into account when planning.

The Mont Rond chairlift is another way to experience the landscape: it can be used by pedestrians and mountain bikes, and the panoramic views extend to Mont Blanc, the Beaufortain and the Aravis. Operating hours and access rules may change; check them before your visit.

Bodies of water and outdoor trails

At Lac du Plan Désert, there is a family picnic area with permanently installed barbecue grills. The lake is designated for fishing; numerous hikes start nearby. Follow local rules when using the grills. There is also a body of water near the resort, designed for swimming and recreation, with play equipment for children. As seasonal access may change, check the conditions for the time of your trip.

Village history and fairy-tale scenes

The church, dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité, was built between 1876 and 1886 to replace an earlier building dating from the 14th century. Its carillon and Stations of the Cross are considered the building’s most important features. A guided village tour focuses on the history of Notre-Dame-De-Bellecombe, traditional life, the beginnings of tourism, and the church and its bell tower. The tour is seasonal; check the dates for the time of your trip.

The Maison des Contes de Fées presents animated fairy-tale scenes in enchanting settings. Salt dough workshops for children are also offered there in winter and summer; check availability before your visit. Another historic feature is the Télétraîneau: it was the ski resort’s first mechanical lift installation in 1937, was fully restored in 2017 and is still operational.

Planning seasonal experiences

The Ferme « Au Bonheur des Fromages » offers visits in winter. As access should be checked again in future winters, confirm before travelling whether suitable dates are available during your stay. On a Cani-Randonnée, a dog pulls you on a walk or hike. Find out in advance about participating providers and dates.

When choosing a hotel, it is worth considering the time of year and the activities you have planned together: the circular trails vary in length and difficulty, while the guided tour, workshops and farm visits may have seasonal dates.
