Winter days in Le Pré can be planned in different ways: with a gondola connection to Plan des Violettes, a ski descent from Aiguille Rouge, or marked winter trails starting at the tourist information office. Seasonal operations and access rules for the winter trails are also part of the planning.

Gondola and ski descent

The gondola connects the hamlet of Le Pré de Villaroger at 1,200 m with the summit of Plan des Violettes at 2,119 m. Its 40 cabins each accommodate ten people and are fitted with external ski racks. The ride takes less than seven minutes. The service is seasonal, so check before you arrive.

Another option for a ski day is the direct descent from Aiguille Rouge: from the summit at 3,226 m, you can ski all the way down to the hamlet of Le Pré at 1,200 m without taking another mountain lift. Access to the slopes and lifts is also seasonal. Check these conditions when planning your trip.

Several marked winter hiking and snowshoe trails of all difficulty levels start at the Villaroger tourist information office near the gondola in the hamlet of Le Pré. In winter, these trails may only be accessed with a qualified guide because they cross ski slopes. Bear this condition in mind when choosing a route.

Two trails, different formats

The Circuit des Plattières is a 3.7 km circular route with 100 m of elevation gain and blue trail markings. It runs along the edge of the Bois du Pré forest and offers panoramic views of the village of Le Pré. On the way back, the loop passes through the heart of the village. Its length, elevation gain and circular layout make it different from a route that returns along the same path.

The Itinéraire du Mont passes through a forest to beautiful alpine chalets; the return follows the same route. The trail takes half a day and has 100 m of elevation gain. Along the way, it offers views of the neighbouring mountain range, including the La Rosière de Montvalezan resort and the Espace San Bernardo in Italy, as well as the Mont Blanc massif. While the Circuit des Plattières is distinguished by its circular layout and route length, the half-day duration and return along the same path are key points to consider for the Itinéraire du Mont.

Le Pré and Villaroger

Le Pré is one of Villaroger’s five main villages. Together with Le Pré derrière, it is considered one of two twin villages; both are described as villages with a beautifully restored character. This makes it easy to find your way around while choosing between the mountain lift, ski descent and different types of trails.

The Villaroger tourist information office provides maps and route information for all visitors, as well as information about various summer activities. Visitor services are seasonal; check whether the office is open before your visit.
